Fourth Annual Summer Event Mountain Get-Away Teardrop & Vintage Trailer Rally at Hurkey Creek Park, 56375 Highway 74, Mountain Center, CA 92561. Prepare your teardrops, vintage trailer, or whatever you want to bring and join us for some summer fun in the mountains on a warm sunny weekend in Southern California. There are hiking & biking trails, playgrounds for the kids, just 7 miles from the quaint town of Idyllwild, and 1 mile from the local general store. There will be a Pot Luck Dinner Saturday evening at 5:30. Camping fee is $16.00 per night, to be paid in advance with registration form. Water, rest rooms, and showers (coin operated) are available. Hope the fire doesn't put a twist on the event.

I understand they have closed the campground down, but who knows, perhaps the it'll re-open if the fire misses it.

The day before yesterday it was headed right for it. Then yesterday it took a turn East and headed around the South side of Idyllwild and on towards Palm Springs. They shut down the tram because of smoke up on top. Seems like CalFire is trying to steer the fire towards the desert to run out of fuel and burn itself out. Chances are it didn't get down to Hurkey Creek.

i am in contact with the park. we are still good. the fire has missed hurkey and headed down the back side of the mountain towards palm springs. I am getting regular updates. i sent an update to those registered. Thank you for the post Roly. i forgot to post here to let people know the park is safe for now.

I think it is sae to say that Hurkey Creek is ON ! Besides... "I" have my confirmation paper !!! Now alls I gotta do is figure out WHO to bring wit me..

a big huge thank you to all the firefighters and volunteers who worked so hard to fight the fire and drew that line to save the park. so far so good.
