I look forward to this event every year. Teardrops, vintage trailers, hot rods and a great, historic route, what's not to like? I will be there for sure.

I jus came from Grand Canyon Caverns ( was bout 5 miles East at mile marker 122 ) The road on Rt 66 is MUCH SMOOTHER between Kingman and Seligman than Rt 40...40 is very VERY choppy, with MANY pot holes. Rt 66 is quite smoothe with NO pot holes. My vintage VW would need to carry EXTRA fuel to git from Kingman to Seligman tho. She only has a 10 gallon tank. BEWARE of the Hualapi( Spelling ) Indian Reservation POLICE and OBEY the speed limit !

Approximate jurisdiction of Hualapi police in gray on Route 66 and going North East on hwy 18 to the Grand Canyon:
Keep speed under limit with Peach Tree at the center of concern:Valentine ~ Truxton ~

If your travelling on rt 66, you should be doing the speed limit regardless. If you are in a hurry, take I-40, if you are out to enjoy a great drive, take rt 66 and enjoy yourself. Hualapai Tribal is not out to get anyone, they just want folks to respect the speed limits through their town. Not asking too much, eh? If you knew how many people fly through there at way over the speed limit, (mostly Europeans) you would understand why they are a bit defensive.

I don't see the revenue enhancement zones as out to get you, or out of respect. It's not an either/or it's probably both/and. And I can't blame them one bit. The NAs have been given the scrub land that won't grow much and been guided into a hand-to-mouth existence. If a few dollars can be made...I don't blame them. Besides people drive too fast anyway.
Rules are rule.s. Although, the 25 MPH zones that seem to crop of sometimes make no sense (not just on res, think US70 just before you get to downtown Indianapolis....but a little common sense will usually get you through safely..
God willing, this is my vacation next summer....

I was jus mentionin that the Indian reservation had reduced speed limit and to be careful. I still say that I-40 is WAY too choppy with very rough road;pot holes and jus plain BAD pavement.

Just some questions from a newbie......looked at the maps and links. Not quite sure how that works.....do you just wander and visit whatever takes your fancy? Do you meet to camp somewhere? I don't know if I can work out the dates or not, yet but was curious about the logistics...

So, where do you meet to camp? A different place every night? One home base?

Brian you really need to come out some time for the 66 run. It is a lot of fun and with your fine looking Steadybraker and custom trailer, you would be quite the hit.
