Trashcan Turkey

Lay out heavy-duty foil on ground. Drive a metal stake in the ground through the middle of the foil sheet. Hang the turkey on the stake. Cover it with a new trashcan and it needs to have the galvanizing burned off ahead of time. (You can set a fire in the can and allow it to completely burn off the galvanizing before turkey cooking day.) Place charcoal around the bottom of the can and on the top of the can.
Light the charcoal, and in about 2 two and a half hours you can cook a 24 pound turkey. They say it is really good comes out golden brown and juicy. This is a Boy Scout recipe shared by a co-worker of mine. I have never done this but I am really anxious to try it. It is like a great big Dutch oven. This would be fun to do for Christmas!

I did it last year, I put a coffee can full of beer in the body cavity and a can with water and sage leaves outside the body. I set the mess on a DO to catch the gravy fixins..... Best turkey ever! I am going to do it again this year.

Ma3tt, The turkey looks good, but I'm not too sure about boots and shorts.
