You said that sorghum syrup required an aquired taste...
Well... I must have aquired the taste before I even tasted the stuff.
My shipment came in today and I must say it has a taste unique unto itself.
The closest I can describe it right now is... It's sorta like a cross between real maple syrup and honey but different. It's got a tang that the pure maple syrup does.
Thanks for introducing me to this product, I'm looking forward to making a batch of hot bisquits with melted butter and sorghum drizzled on top!!!

Sorgum is good stuff but my first choice will always be ribbon cane syrup.


Ah. Hot buttered biscuits with ribbon cane syrup with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese to nibble with it. I'm drooling already!

Hey Dean,

Glad you liked it :) . Ribbon Cane, A somewhat milder taste than Sorghum. Doesn't have that bite. :twisted: Went to my favorite restaurant, Maple Street Diner, and they had advertised Biscuits and Sorghum. Had to inform them they were serving Ribbon Cane not Sorghum. Cane syrup would be my second choice. I like to take some soft butter, mash and stir it into the Sorghum. Then cut the biscuit half into four bites. That way you can gob the syrum on the biscuit. Next best thing just eat the syrup- fergetabout the biscuit :twisted: :twisted:

Same thing except try fresh hot cornbread instead of the biscuit !!
YUM !! Mom used to have that for dessert a lot when I was a young'un.

You made my stomach rumble! Remembered my grandmothers buttermilk bisquites, home made butter, blackstrap molasses, and whole milk that was cold and only about 4 hours out of the cow. I was 10 years old with a head of hair and not one ounce of fat, because I ran everywhere I went.

Wife and I just polished off a batch of Buttermilk pancakes. Even cooked one for the dog, well, I think she's a dog :lol: .

Made from scratch (of course.) Hungry Jack and Aunt Jemima - you gotta go ;)

Got this "Mix" recipe from Alton Brown on FoodTV. He can really pull some boners but this one we really like.

Much better than store bought mixes.

BTW Buttermilk biscuits reminds me of our 4 boys when they were in school. The wife was in school also so I always got us and cooked breakfast. 25-30 scratch buttermilk biscuits every morning with homemade peach (South Carolina peaches) and homemade blueberry preserves. First boy at the table would grab his biscuits and lick'em to keep the others from snatching them. :lol:
