Time has come for us to sell the Blue Yonder, as we need to get something a little bigger so we can bring our granddaughter and new grandbaby (due in Apr 2015) out with us. Now a bit about the trailer:
Located in Ft Worth Texas, construction began in Feb 2011 and its first outing was to LCG in Oct 2011. The chassis is a custom made by a professional fabricator here in Ft Worth. It is a 5x10 with a 3500lb Acculube axel with 15” tires and a 2-inch coupler (documentation provided). It is equipped with easy-lube hubs.
The design of the Blue Yonder was inspired by a Scadabout design. It is not intended to be a Scadabout clone, as I said the Scad was the inspiration. There is an 8-inch queen size memory foam mattress inside, plenty comfortable. There is a lot of interior storage with headboard and over foot cabinets. There is a 110 and 12VDC outlet in the cabin, along with a set of aircraft style overhead lights. A Fantastic Fan, multi-speed and reversible is there for the days you need a little breeze. For those really hot days or cold nights, there is a PetCool AC/Heat Pump installed. The trailer is register as a Texas Utility trailer and will come with a Certificate of Origin as compared to a Texas RV Title.
In the galley, first thing most notice is the half hatch design and large storage area under the counter top, assessable without needing to open the hatch. The hatch is equipped with gas struts. There is a built in wine bottle rack. The coffee pot and microwave are included. The “nose art” in the galley was hand-painted by my wife; it is a copy of actual WWII art. In the galley is the power panel that connects to your campground shore power using the connection point on the driver side of the trailer. There is no battery installed, but the power panel can support one if the new owner wants to install one.
The exterior is covered with painted aluminum and has little (if any) signs of wear as the trailer has always been stored inside. The aircraft decals on the sides should be able to be removed if desired. The two entry doors have stay open latches so you can show off the interior or just get the fresh air when parked. Each door has jealously style windows and lockable door latches. The two doors are keyed the same.
I understand that this is a very customized trailer, with all the US Air Force decorations. However, the curtains and door pulls can be replaced easily if desired.
I will admit I have never weighed the trailer as I tow with an F-150, but my guess would be somewhere between 1200-1500 pounds. To aid with hand moving, a trailer dolly is included as is the spare tire. I normally toss it in the bed of the truck, but would think it could be mounted to the trailer frame.
Build pictures and discussion throughout the build can be found in my build thread located here: http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=42611
I’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have.
