"Bubbles" is for sale!

For sale is "Bubbles", our gorgeous homebuilt teardrop camping trailer. I posted up the info on our rebuild last year (see my signature for the link)

Specifications:

Size: About 10' long from back bumper to tongue. Width is 5'
Weight: Around 1000 lbs
Sleeping capacity: 2 adults

Bubbles was built on a cargo trailer frame. Construction is marine-grade plywood with 3/4" plywood sides and a 1/4" top. The top has been sealed with two coats of aluminum based primer and then finished off with a beautiful textured truck bedliner in forest green and tan.

Fenders are classic, 1930's style and painted to match the trailer's roof. Wheels are 15" and tires are Coker wide whitewalls with baby moon hubcaps and replica '39 Mercury LED teardrop taillights.

The width of the sleeping compartment is 5' which is the width of a Queen sized bed, and the length of the sleeping compartment is 6 1/2 feet!

The galley compartment is in the back. Currently it has a shelf in it, you can configure this however you like. We used metal baskets from The Container Store and there is room for a medium-sized propane or white gas camp stove in the galley as well. The galley has a waterproof hatch hinge and is held up by two wooden struts that hold the galley hatch securely in place.

The trailer requires no "hookups" and is perfect for primitive camping or "boondocking."

We got Bubbles several years ago from the original builder. She was nice when we got her but we realized she needed a lot of work and we spent several months and several thousand dollars making her into the incredible, gorgeous Teardrop that she is now!

Bubbles has the following features that make it a great camper:

• Thick, 4 piece mattress removes for easy cleaning and stacks so you can carry your camp gear in the back.
• Beautiful round "porthole" screened windows on each side that open for ventilation
• Interior storage compartment at the forward end of the cabin
• Drop-down "jockey wheel" for easy movement.
• Patio umbrella "canopy" included

Upgrades we made are as follows:

• New axle (2000 lb capacity)
• New tires and wheels (Coker wide "gangster" whitewalls
• Custom fiberglass fenders
• LED Taillights '39 Mercury style
• Securely locking galley locking bar and handle
• Sanded down to bare wood then restained, painted in stenciled "leaf" pattern and polyurethaned with 2 coats of heavy, marine grade polyurethane
• Top sealed with 2 coats of aluminum-based epoxy primer and then painted with "Monstaliner" epoxy-based textured bed liner
• Solar powered intake/exhaust fan with light
• Interior bolt lock, allows you to lock yourself securely inside
• Battery powered LED lights in the cabin and in the galley
• "Pass through" hatch and folding table in the cabin
• Rebuilt, reinforced tongue with locking tongue box
• Screw-type stabilizer jacks included

Bubbles has been beautifully painted and stenciled throughout. We've lost track of the number of compliments we've gotten for her!

A Custom fitted, waterproof cover is included (new in 2014!)

Sadly, though, we've decided to move up to a bigger camper, but for a young couple, empty nesters or even an adventurous single person, Bubbles is perfect! The 1,000 lb weight means that most cars can tow her, even small vehicles like the Subaru. Best of all, it won't even affect your MPG that much (it costs me 1 -- 2 MPG when towing with a V6 4runner.)

Clean CO title (note that as with most home-built teardrops, this is titled as a utility trailer.)

One thing about a trailer like this: I guarantee you won't see another one like it on the road! Don't buy unless you like getting a lot of attention from other drivers on the road or when you stop for gas!

$4900. Please note this is the "winter price." If we can't sell her before Christmas we will likely take her off the market and re-list in Springtime at a higher price.
