What is this worth?

Postby Wimperdink » Mon Sep 24, 2007 8:18 pm

Its a '62 Aloha 13' TT. Have title and current tags. I intended to restore it, but the condition was still so good that I just left it alone and used it and fixed the minor things that were wrong with it. The inside has been painted, and sticky tile updated the floor. Its not perfect but in great shape.

I have loved this camper but my 77 ford f250 drinks gas like nobodys business so I'm leaning more towards building a TD that I can pull behind my Car to make camping a lil more affordable. Haven't entirely talked myself into selling it but I'm just curious what you folks think it may be worth. (will it bring enough to buy materials for a teardrop) :D

I can get some in the next few days. The other side is in equal condition.

The inside has the original early 60's plywood paneling that has been painted. Floor has been covered in sticky tile to bring it up to date a lil but is 100% solid. There's a spot in the ceiling that needs to be replace from a leak that was repaired. Dinette cushions are brand new, bed cushions need to be recovered. Otherwise all original and in decent shape.

I'll try to get some other pics soon. I would take detailed clear pics if I intended to sell but just trying to get a ballpark idea for now. I'm kinda partial to keeping it but would hate to see it rot in the backyard from nonuse. Would also hate to sell it to someone who would just let it degenerate too. lol Gotta love the small camper communities.

Well the '62 Aloha unrestored is worth what ever you can get out of it, maybe $1000. And if your thinking about building a quality teardrop that will last several years then no, the money you make from the Aloha will not cover all the cost needed to build the tear. But then again if you buy one of those 'big box' store frames and buy cheap ply and trim and what ever else is needed, the answer is yes. I hear tell you can build a basic teardrop for under $1000. So the choice is really yours as to how you want to go.

By the way, your question is a loaded question. So stand by for several different answers.

I knew it was a loaded question. :) I fully expected varying answers. Actually my plan for the frame was... I know where there is another camper similar to mine but is in a condition beyond repair. Was gonna offer the "bushmaster" where its parked... 25 to just haul it off and tear it down to raw frame and edit the frame to fit my needs for a tear. :) My other hobby is boat building so i've got a lil experiance in plywood and fiberglass. :D

look at what vintage trailers go for on Ebay. You may want to sell it there or your local craigs list. If you list it high, you may find someone willing to pay your price (new trailer budget) especially since you don't "need" to sell it.
