Wanted.... Dolly Wheel to fit this jack.... FOUND

Postby sid » Sun May 31, 2009 2:07 pm

I am looking for a Dolly Wheel and Clip to fit my 1947 Cub/Modernistic Teardrop. It looks to be about a 1 inch shaft.

I know there are a lot of ways I can put a wheel on here, but am really looking for an original type wheel.

Please PM me if you can help.

Thanks,
Sid

Is the shaft hollow?? A 3/4" socket and a ratchet removes the front wheel off a shopping cart in the middle of the night!! :MLAS Not that I'm recommending you do anything illegal!!! You could slide the threaded portion up inside and pin it temporarily until you find the right one.

Thanks for the idea, but I'm really looking for the correct wheel to keep it as original as possible.

It's not a rush job since I'm on teardrop time. The whole trailer has been disassembled so it's easy enough to move around.

It is a solid shaft. I know someone out there somewhere has one......

Hi Sid,

I don't have any extras, but here is a picture of an era correct wheel.

The wheel has a hollow tube that fits over the jack shaft.
The wheel/tube also has a thumb screw that projects into the groove on the jack shaft to hold it in place.

That sure looks like what I need.... and yes, it does have the little groove on the shaft.

Thanks for posting the picture!

With a little work you could make this work. Would not be exact, but close.

With a 2" I.D. you would have to sleve it but it's looks right.

Hi Sid,
I don't know what year these are but I might be talked out of one of them if I knew it was going to a loving home. One has a thumb screw to tighten it to the shaft and the other doesn't. That's about all I can tell you about them.
