looking for "lil' tag aglong" 1968

Hello, friends!

I'm a new member, and as of yet we do not own a teardrop. That may change! :)

In 1968 and 1969 my family built a little fiberglass teardrop, and I painted "lil' tag-along" on the back of it, with a little cartoon guy holding up a peace sign with two fingers. We took it all over the country on a couple of trips, and people honked at us and waved across America. :)

Mom (who is 88) and I do not know when Dad sold it, but it must have been in the early 70's. I would LOVE to find her and buy her again! Or at least know what happened to her.

She was a homemade teardrop camper, covered in fiberglass fabric and white fiberglass.

Has anyone see my Lil' Tag Along??? :worship:

Thanks for reading,

Wow - talk about a needle in a haystack.

Good luck with your search. Would be great to hear that you were successful in finding such a wonderful home-built family icon.

What city and state did you all live in when it was sold?

You're right! It truly is a needle in a haystack! Or in my case, maybe a teardrop in a sea of tears would be a more accurate metaphor. :)

It would have been sold in the 1975-76 timeline in Solomon, Kansas.

Thanks for any possible leads! When my dad built something, it was BUILT to last forever! We fiberglassed the entire thing "so it would float", he always said.

I'll keep trying! Thanks!

More details ---

*Mom and I recall that it was probably sold around Salina, Kansas (or Solomon, KS) around 1975 or 1976???

*The back of the tag along did NOT lift up.

*It had what my mom refers to as "side saddles" on one side (or both sides?) that opened up for storing things.

*Inside it had a little area up front to hang clothes, and a little porta-potty area.

*It had louvered, crank-open windows! I think it also had a ceiling opening vent.

*It was white fiberglass cloth over the wood, and poured-on white fiberglass that saturated and sealed the fiberglass cloth. The only markings on it when it sold was the little guy I painted on the back with enamel paint --- Dad made me add pants on him -- holding up a peace sign with his hand, and "Lil' Tag Along". (Bellbottom pants -- hey, it was 1968 and I was an adolescent! ") ) That painting could easily have been removed by now, of course. ")

Thanks again, new friends, for any info you may have! ") Love the forum!
