1967 16' Hi-Lo - SOLD - but not to me.

I went and had a look at this beauty today. I am tempted, but then again I still have 2 other trailers. I like the idea about it easily fitting in the garage.

http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicle ... Z189663063

This is a 1967 16' Hi-Lo in original conditional.
About 8' wide, 13' box, and 64" height when closed, about 8' when opened.

Here is some good and bad.

Good
- no signs of any leakage anywhere
- floor is solid
- frame looks solid
- exterior condition is very good
- interior looks all original
- original humphrey gas light
- original documentation

Bad
- seals are weak on the sides which would allow some bugs to come up into the camper
- cushions are pretty tired looking
- electric lift motor not hooked up and it looks like the cables would need replacing (mechanical works)
- surge brakes do not work

Does anyone have any more information on the Hi-Lo trailer? I have searched and only really found references to the new ones.
Len

I read this off the current Hi-Lo website:
"Hi-Lo Trailer Company, Inc. was founded in 1955 as Snyder's Hi-Lo Trailers. In 1957 we dropped the "Snyder's" and became Hi-Lo Trailer Company, Inc.We have been located in north central Ohio, building the worlds only telescoping travel trailer ever since."

I took some pictures of the trailer above and beyond what the owner has already posted. If interest is there are 3 original labels on the trailer which give the model name as Voyager, up arrow for camping, down arrow for travel, and then states "The Snyder Trailer Company, Butler, Ohio."

The Ontario ownership states 1967, but maybe she's really a 1957? The gas light, ice box only...........?

I'm gonna guess you'll be calling them tomorrow...
Seems like a good company, been in business a long time.

Any idea how much the trailer weighs?

Lucky for you it's too big for my car or I'd been on the road right now to fetch it.

About 1800 pounds and close to 200 on the tongue. I can pick up the tongue.
Yea, I'll give Todd another call tomorrow. Unfortunately he was not there when I looked at. I think the cables need to be replaced as well.

I got a 73 hilo for sale. If interested drop me an email, I started tearing down the inside (there is a thread about it somewhere on here) but have to many things going to get back to it...

If you call hi lo they will give you a guys name and number who they refer their older trailers to. I called him and bought a copy of the owners manual from him. And I asked him what kind of parts he has. He seems to be a nice guy and is very informative however if you are going to hire him, He is not cheap.

To replace the cables is a big job, you have to take off the whole top, then once you get it back together you need to grease the cables and adjust them.... While your at it you may as well replace the rubber seal.

If the motor is bad you will have to either replace it or rebuild it. The guy above does have some used ones...

by the way they pull really good I picked mine up with a ford focus and brought it home (not recommended it was an emergency) even though the car was strained it didn't sway or act up.... of course the Focus didn't like the couple of hills we went over...

You may be a "Len" but you are not myLen..
here is a link to some photos:

http://cid-a9bececc9e81c06a.skydrive.li ... are%20Down

As you can see the outside is good, the top part (interior) is what is now ripped out: all the panneling, ceiling and cabinets have been removed from the inside top.

I saved the pieces for patterns.

If you want give me a call and I can fill you in on all the details Im to lazy to type it all....
