** SOLD ** Grumman 2 Tear project, So Cal.

I regretfully am putting my tear project on the market, I really need something that I can haul my motorcycles in so something along the lines of a cargo conversion will suit me much better. This project is my version of the Grumman 2. It is a 5' x 10' with an interior of 55" x 78" so it will fit a Full size mattress. Interior height is 45". One door on the right side with 15"x18" crank window and a large 15"x30" crank out window on the other. Walls are a sandwich construction with 1/2" ACX plywood on the outside, 1/4" red oak inside and 3/4" foam board inside, framed out with 1x2 poplar. Roof bows are also 1x2 poplar, 3/4 mortise and tendoned into the walls, stood on edge so the celing will have 1 1/2" insulation. Floor is either 1/2 or 3/4" ( I forget!) ACX plywood as well, framed out on the bottom with 1x3 poplar and sealed with asphault emulsion. Both the 5x9 floor and 4x10 exterior walls are one piece, no seams. The interior of the roof is 1/8" red oak ply. Interior walls have been finished with clear semi-gloss Minwax water based Polycrylic finish and are beautiful! The frame is custom built out of 2x2x 1/8 steel by me (I am a professional welder and fabricator.) 2x2 hitch on the rear for a bike rack or other accessory. Rear jacks included and mounts already welded in. Body of tear is through bolted through angle iron tabs welded on the frame so there are no opening or penetrations through the frame tubes. Ought to outlast all of us! Flush mount tabs for marker lights also installed, lights included. Painted with oil based Rustolium paint. Tortion flex axle was custom ordered from Dexter with a 1600lb rating and ez lube hubs. No brakes, but the mounting tabs are there making it easy to add if you wish, just buy the backing plates and drum hubs. Wheels are 15" with 205/75D15 trailer tires. Rear galley is framed out for the counter top and a battery box. Overall, I built this thing with the best materials and as solid as I could. I like quality, I like strength, I like my stuff lasting forever. I have no doubt someone can finish this build and have a tear to be proud of. Included is the bulk of the hardware you will need to finish this including Hurricane hinge, door latches, windows, 7 pin wiring harness, rear jacks, 1 1/2" foam insulation for the roof, LED marker and tail lights with stainless bezels, deep cycle battery, billet aluminum battery mount, Blue Sea fuse panel, etc. Being a larger tear, and build like a tank, I expect this to come in over 1000 lbs, probably closer to 1200 depending on choice of skin material, so if you need a tear to pull with a 4 cylinder compact car, this probably is not the best choice. Tear is located in nothern Los Angeles area, zip 91384 and I am happy to show it any evening or weekends.
