Cricket tear for sale

So, the time has come to part ways with our beloved little trailer.
I now have a 3 kids and we won't all fit.

I made this trailer 4 years ago and it took only 500 hours! (It would have been longer without the help from this site. Since the trailer is under 16' total length, it is registered with PTI plates, so you don't have to pay registration every year (in California).

Here are some details.
Kitchen:
-Open the back hatch for access.
-Sink w/drain to bucket
-Manual water pump
-Counter Space, big enough for cooler storage during travel. (In the pics you will notice a stain on the counter. A water bottle was left in storage and leaked a little, causing the stain. Much of the stain is gone, but a little remains. There is not leak from the exterior.)
-2 12V lights
-1 12V power outlet
-Space/shelf for camp stove
- Small pantry area

Cabin:
-Double/Queen bed
-Night stands/shelves
-Reading lights
-Overhead double light
-Fantastic fan (3 speed, in & out)
-3 windows that open (1 big slider & 2 small cranks)
-Overhead storage shelf
-Bunk for small person or storage shelf which closes during travel
-Wiring ready for added appliances (TV, lighting, etc.)
-Two doors for entry on both sides of camper
-110 volt outlet for small appliances

Storage Box:
-Accessible electrical panel and battery.
-Room for all the rest of your gear that you may need.

The trailer has a seven blade electrical hookup and the truck charged the trailer batteries when driving. It is a solid little trailer built to last with quality joinery. It does not leak at all.

Trailer is located in Nipomo, California, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Follow the link to a Picasa album to see pics.

How much $$ and are there any pictures of the back with the hatch closed? It looks like a 4 x 8. Did you build the trailer frame? My son is looking for a td and this might be it. Thanks

Price

I am asking $3200, which is about what I put into it. I'm not looking to make money on this trailer. My main goal is to be able to get something, anything that can sleep 6 people.

Also, it is actually 5x8, which lets you fit a double/queen mattress. The trailer was a harbor freight trailer, but I modified a little so that it work better.

Finally, I just added pictures to the web album.

Have some questions about your trailer!

Postby dragonfly456 » Wed Aug 25, 2010 11:56 am

Hello Schmidty!

First of all I should ask if your trailer is still available- that is the most important question. If so- I have some questions. I need to comment on what a beautiful job you did creating this trailer- it is really sharp looking!

Some of my questions have to do with the fact that I have asthma and am sensitive to some chemicals. first and foremost I am looking for a trailer that is just made very simply- out of solid wood; without insulation (like foam...) and hasn't been made with anything that could aggravate my asthma- like particle board which is made with formaldehyde...etc. This looks like it doesn't.

So- here are my picky questions! Is there any kind of insulation? What is the trailer made of- it looks like solid wood... What is the wood finished with (polyurethane, varnish, tung oil etc..)?

The side windows- it looks like the bunk obscures the windows- can you still get enough air into the living room with them to provide decent ventilation?. In your description you mention one big sider- I only see the two little ones that are up by the bunk area- I guess I am missing it- can you tell me where that is?

Trailer batteries- do you use those for power if you are staying in a place that doesn't have an electrical hook-up? If so- about how long does a charged battery last? How long does it take to charge it up?

The overhead fan- is it electric or does it use batteries?

Wat are those things on the outside above the doors- lights? Vents?

What is behind that green curtain that is over the pillows on the bed? Is that end facing the back of the trailer and the kitchen/storage area?

Thank you!

The trailer is 3/8" oak ply on the outside, 1/4" oak ply inside. It is finished with polyurethane on the outside and I used a satin finish lacquer on the inside. I used the white Styrofoam insulation for the walls.
This trailer has plenty of ventilation. The side windows open, the front window opens, and the top vent opens. The vent on top top is a 3-speed fan made by Fantastic. You can get a great cross breeze in the trailer. The big slider is in the front of the trailer, just above where you would lie your head at night.
Everything runs off a deep cycle battery and lasts 3-10 days, depending on how much you use the fan. The is a battery charger hooked up to the battery for when you have shore power. I have a 7-blade trailer hook-up on my truck, which charges the trailer as I drive, so that I don't have to stay at a campground with hookups if I don't want to.
Just above the doors on the outside are porch lights.
Behind the green curtain is the big slider window, which is in the front of the trailer.
