Updated: Rent a Teardrop (Michigan)?

Postby skylinedrifter » Thu May 31, 2012 1:31 pm

Hello.

I realize it's short notice, but is there anyone in southeastern or central Michigan who might be willing to rent their teardrop for a few days (June 6th - 11th)? I'm interested in doing some solo camping up in the Pigeon River State Forest and would prefer not to take my giant trailer (and waste the gas) for just myself.

I can be reached at [email protected]

Thanks!

-Shane

UPDATE: Something like a Little Guy 4 wide would be stunningly perfect. I'd be happy to provide proof of insurance, copy of DL, proof of employment, thumbprints, character references, a jaunty tune, first born children (Pending wife's approval)...

Thanks, again! :)

There's something about teardrops that make them unrentable for some reason. In the entire state of California there's only 2 places that rent them. And as far as owners renting their own teardrops, I think there's a general reluctance because people get so attached to them and they are very personal and intimate little "nests" if you will -- it would probably feel weird to have a stranger use it. That's my theory. If I had one I can't imagine I would rent it out.

Well, I ended up taking my 19' Roo on that trip. Getting hopelessly stuck in the mud aside, it got the job done, but it was a lot of work for a solo trip. I think I may start looking for a small teardrop towards the end of the season.

   True!

I did this in one Saturday morning. And although it's only a mockup, if I had done it with some type of waterproof plywood, it would have been almost done!
