He probably declined the 2 $8000 offers so that he can sell it off eBay. I know it's a violation of the terms of service but as much as eBay has jacked up it's listing fees, I wouldn't be suprised. More and more people are jacking up their shipping fees because eBay doesn't get a cut of that.
