 Well, I looked in messages, and none there. Don't know what happened, I have never gotten a message on this site, mail box always empty. I am in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I have tried to msg. Jewel here locally and gotten no answer, presumed that she didn't want to answer, now I wonder if the message sent, or I have message center problems that I don't know about. Phone is ---405-761-2146.

Do you have any pics of the galley fitted out for a trip, I'm having trouble picturing what goes where, and I'm somewhat baffled by the pass thru for the gas can?

sgnellett , the pass thru is storage under the counter for cables, lights, ropes, etc. The red can is actually my water can. I sit it outside when camping, then I have my trash bag where the water jug was.The area above that is a catch all for stuff. The 2 boxes are AC& DC wiring. I put a microwave or coffee maker on the top counter along with bread, chips or whatever. I put a sliding mount on the lower counter where I put my Coleman stove, you can slide it forward to access the drawers while cooking. It also gives me room for preparing food on the lower counter. Under the lower counter is storage for pots & pans , plates ,cups, etc.I will try & get a pics of it setup for camping, hers one I have.

Hope ya like it! ;) ;)

PS.. as you can see it was a Woody then. I had a break down of the outer varnish & had water stains so I stripped it & sealed & painted it red.

Boodro wrote:The top is FRP , it has been on for almost 3 1/2 years & no problems.

Forgive my ignorance, but are you stating the above in a defensive tone or just a matter of fact tone? I finally found out what FRP means (haha), and when I went back and read this it could be construed that either some people have encountered problems with FRP or that problems should be expected. When I found out what FRP was, it sounded like a good skin to me, but I've never built a tear before, so what do I know one way or the other?

Am I correct in my original thought that there shouldn't be too much of a problem with FRP?

Hi , there have been several discussions on FRP here. I used FRP on all sides & the roof originally .I have since changed the sides but left the roof. My position when I did the build was to provide results on the wear of FRP. the statement you quote is just that , info from a period of time & the results , that is all. My contention on frp is that it is a viable choice for skins . It can be painted to your choice as well, that in itself provides added UV protection. With my FRP roof , it has been just fine with no issues & i have no plans to change it. Thanks for your interest. Good luck with your build! :applause:

Thanks -- it sounded like a good skin to me. I'm glad it worked out for you and thanks for reporting that it's been working fine for 3+ years. Is the hatch and tailgate still woody? It looks like it from your more recent pictures. I don't know why, but that three-tone look really works with your tear. If someone was just telling me about it with no pictures, I wouldn't think it would, but it really does. I like that you left the roof white -- I live in Florida, so that's a big plus.

As for good luck with my build -- I'm still looking for something pre-built, and yours with the extra room (length) is still in the running for consideration! Seeing what everyone has done here has definitely caused me to come up with some ideas on my own, but I don't think I'm quite ready for such an extensive project. I'm handy and crafty, but not quite that much....yet. I'm more ready for modding something existing. Your tear is screaming for a mini-kiddy bunk while my youngest is still short enough. By the time he's too tall for a bunk like that, neither he nor his 8-year-old older brother would likely be interested in camping with boring ol' me anyway! I have two 17-year-olds, too, so I've already gone through that stage with one set of kids...I won't take it so hard this time around...haha.

For some reason, all the available tears with potential seem to be about as far away from me as possible, but I'm beginning to look at that as an opportunity for test camping/towing on the way back home. One of these times I just need to jump on one of them, because the more I mull it over, the more I keep missing out!

I've got some numbers to crunch...and a spouse to convince....

Looks to me as if this is a great deal on a nice trailer. Could you plan a vacation around picking it up? It worked for us when we got ours. Went from VA to TN to get the trailer, then on to MS to see our daughter, then back home.

Just a thought.... :D
