My '06 VW bug is rated a 1000# . I don't know what you're driving but I sure find it hard to believe it is not able to tow a 600-1000 pound tear. I see 4cyl Honda accords with automatic trans pulling tears 100's of miles a year.If you want a "traditional tear" 4X8 up to 5X10 I'd get on the manufacturer's web site and get some Tech service info. As Rocky stated many dealerships really either don't know their products or just want to sell you something /anything. Most of the time when I purchase a new vehicle the "salesman" that meets me in the parking lot don't know as much about the vehicle I'm shopping for as I do. I don't think they spend the time to learn specs and model variations/options. Besides, I'm a car guy and I gotta know - exactly do you drive??

I've been trying my best not to lead this conversation off from the "For Sale/Wanted" topic. !!!

For those of you who have asked, I drive a 1998 Mazda 626 V6. I've been told it does not have the proper brakes, front wheel drive, and the '98 model has a weak transmission, so be very careful with it.

With that said, I'm still not taking my chances and am looking for a used vehicle appropriate for towing and hauling.

If you buy the orange one, you can repaint the hoot with 'home depot' and maybe recover your purchase price by advertising.

I sure like that one, although it's probably not the lightest of the bunch. I drive a well-used 96 Nissan SE pickup to tow mine (1000lbs). It's been very dependable aside from the usual moans and groans of an older vehicle (170,000+). If you find one that's been well taken care of it might do the trick.
