Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Okay, I've got a really inexperienced eye...but do the wheels on this trailer seem too far forward, door seem too small?
I sent the guy an email asking for dimensions, and it's 5ft wide x 10ft long. I was thinking it might be a good candidate for a tear I could finish myself, but something about the way the trailer is centered over the wheel just looks a little odd. Thoughts?

The axle does look a little far forward. Ask him if the axle mounts are bolted on or welded on. You should be able to relocate the axle. It would be alot easier if it is bolted on, but even if welded it can be done.

To me also it looks like the axle isnt located in the correct spot... about the door Im not quite sure...But ok the axle could be moved without a problem..

I sent the guy a question, so hopefully he'll send an answer before the auction ends.

Keep in mind, with no galley, the axel can be farther forward to get the right balance. I did not move my axel on my teardrop because I have extra weight on the tongue.

One of the 'finishes' I'd be adding would be a short galley, a wall-toe box to separate the sleeping compartment from that galley, and a couple of interior shelves/boxes. I wouldn't be adding a lot of weight to the build because my galley would basically be a shelf/cupboard outline into which I'd put the cooler, dishpan, propane stove, etc. But I was still concerned that with the axle mid-trailer, I'd be taxing the laws of physics.

I asked the guy if the discoloration on the forward end of the trailer inside was water damage, and how the axle was attached. With a weight of 995 and a tongue weight of 85, it also seems kind of heavy for what it is, but so far no answers. He might be outside enjoying our early spring.

Well spotted. My guess is that it is actually an 8ft trailer with a 10ft body on top (the extra 2ft sticking out the back) and the axle in its original utility trailer position. This might explain why the tail lights are 2ft or so forward of the back end.

If you wanted to add a galley, more than a shelf or two, relocating the axle looks like it would be necessary.

Thanks, Coop...the 'itch' is always there. When I figure out what my tax return will be, it gets a little stronger. When I calculate my property tax payment into January's budget, it gets a little weaker. But I always keep an eye on the ads and on eBay, and this trailer was relatively close as for-sale teardrops go, so I thought I should look at it closely.

I am sure going to try...June weekends one and two are still a little unsettled at work. I could be in the middle of the end of the world software validation and working 24/7...or I could be done with the heavy lifting, and able to take a little break. I'll know closer to end of Feb./beginning of March.
