Duffy's Cavern Teardrop For Sale

Postby dmb90260 » Fri Mar 23, 2007 1:03 pm

Duffy’s Cavern Teardrop is for sale. This is a Freedom Teardrop trailer from Oregon..
It is in good condition and ready to roll. I purchased it new in 2004 and have made a number of long trips with it, including LA to Oregon and back via US395 to Reno. You might find shots of it on the Web at the 2004 & 2005 Spamboree’s. It tows very nicely and cost me only a mile or so a gallon when towed using my Tundra. It has spent most of the last year inside my garage.

I am selling it because I have a 1960 Kenskill 15.5 ft stand up trailer that serves my needs better and I need the space in my garage.

The price is $4000. It will be offered here for a week or so and then move on to Craigslist-LA
You can see some pictures in my TT&T album with more on my web site: duffys cavern

This is a 5x10 Tear with a number of upgrades and extras.
Torsion Bar axles with electric brakes, seven pin round plug.
30 amp electric connection to shore plus 15 and 30 amp adaptor plugs
New Deep cycle battery when it is sold. (battery charges when shore power is attached)
Air conditioning -120v.
Split - queen size mattress making two "chairs" when folded, use half or all the mattress at any time. .
12V color TV w/DVD player. Set to use as DVD, works as TV with a small antenna
Spare tire, LED Tail lights
Electric vent fan
Inverter..
ac and dc power plugs.
Ambient air refrigerator, 12V.
Four permanent stabilizer jacks
12v aircraft lights inside and in the galley..
Two doors with sliding screens and windows.
Dead bolt locks.
12v exterior lights over both doors.
Two tongue jacks.... the tear was rear-ended a year ago and but no damage except the tongue hitch and jack which I had replaced. Hardly a dent in the rear of the tear. It is very strong and weighs about 1300 lbs empty. The original tongue jack had a bent plate and which made it hard to move around in my driveway so I added the bolt on version that works well.
Cabin has no water rain/water problems. Galley is water tight when closed but there was some leakage through the galley hinge when it rained while the lid was up. That has been fixed with alligator tape the seems to have cured it but I have not used it in the rain since the repair.
Also included:
Propane camp stove
New Propane Coleman BBQ,
Coleman distribution tree with a Coleman hose to use with 20# propane tanks.
Galley food locker
Denver boot type wheel lock.
Hitch lock ( 2" ball hitch)
The plastic used to cover the roof/side screw channels has yellowed. This is purely cosmetic can be be replaced easily.
I will NOT include the porta potty, privacy tent, Kelty carport tent shown on my web site.
There are a couple other small additions I have made, cup holders in the cabin, 3 prong boat hooks in the cabin and a fine beer opener and lid catcher from North Coast Brewing.
This tear tows very nicely, I have a Toyota Tundra and it dropped no more than a mile or two a gallon when towing and I have had it on several trips of 1000 miles or more.
It is fully titled and licensed in CA.

And the price has dropped to $3500. :o

Price seems reasonable to me. I've seen a couple Freedom's for sale recently that were priced higher than yours, although I don't think they've sold yet. Good luck!

SOLD

Duffy's Cavern has moved on to it's new home and an adventure of a life.
The new owner is a show biz grip and works on all sorts of events and shows, all over the place. She has promised the Cavern will show up at Burning Man where she will be working. But you may not recognize it, it will be repainted.

One very happy camper who plans on using her old tent for storage and sleep off the ground.

She showed up with a great smile, a love of the teardrops and a pocket of long green. We had deal.
:wine: :P

(But I ain't leaving the forum. The Kenskill is small enough to qualify. She has promised to join or at least send me photos of all the sites her new tear visits.)

Congrats on the sale. I thought your price was reasonable. Better deal than what this guy is asking for his Freedom. :?

I had my fun with it and was not looking to get rich, just pay for the re-skin of my Kenskill... and a couple dutch ovens.
Being cute can get you an added discount too ;)
I got a decent price and a hug. :applause: :applause:

I have always said. When the transaction is complete and you have a big smile on your face, it was a good sale. ;)

Brick, He's in S.E. Portland. I don't have a plate on mine either.

Amazing! I thought every state required plates? Learn sumthing every day...
Down here in Flada... We gotta have plates on everything, even if it's just sitting in your back yard! They like that tax money... :o

I was told that the best transactions are ones where both parties think they got one over on the other party. That's the edited version.

I bought a brand new Snowbear trailer several years ago. I took the paperwork to DMV and they told me I didn't even have to register it if I didn't want to. I did just so the VIN could be traced to me if it got stolen. One time fee of $30.

That's not all they do to us down here... About 6 months ago I had some zoning dufus inform me I could not have a car on my property that was not tagged and insured... Even if it was a restoration in progress? Yep, said car has to be kept in an inclosed building. Behind a privacy fence or under the shed of my workshop will not pass. Of course once I get a car about 90% completed I can get antique car insurance pretty cheap... and I do. But having to insure a 57 Chevy sitting there with no engine or interior, in primer is a bit overkill. I now have cars spread all over the county at friends houses in the country. They are being kinda rough on the old car hobbiests around here. I guess I'm gonna have to build another building... or move to the country. :o

Maybe you and Ira could buy a piece of property and split it up.

I live on a private street so I don't have to worry about that stuff.

Naaa... I don't think so... For all intents and purposes, Ira lives in Cuba; and, I live in Georgia.

And, I don't speak Spanish. :o
