Shasta in Santa Maria

On Santa Barbara CL very nicely priced @ $1500. If I had a stronger car I'd be mine, but I don't :R so I thought I'd post it. I can go grab more pics if anyone is interested.

I talked to a guy who has one of those. It's an early model which is why it doesn't have wings. Anyway, much to my suprise, he tows it with a CR-V.

Maybe he has an transmission cooling system?
What year CRV?

My curiosity is cause that is my tow rig and well that looks heavy for my
1997 Honda CR-V's, 100LB tongue weight spec? Maybe he has an later
model and the weight is right for the pull?

Didn't see it hitched up but it looked big to me too. He has a second generation CR-V, the 2001-2006 model. I also noticed that he had a 1-1/4" receiver hitch. He said that it was supposed to weigh 1500lbs but that was the published weight, he hadn't had it weighed. Not so much the weight but the aero drag would proly kill that CR-V.

Worth a look!

Postby diychick » Sun Mar 25, 2007 9:12 am

Karen,

That looks like a very nice trailer. I think I will give the owners a call and ask more about the condition - leaks, etc. Don't mind putting some work in, but I really don't want to deal with leaks (or previous leaks)!

Thanks for posting.

sigh.. leaks!

Postby diychick » Sun Mar 25, 2007 10:42 pm

Hi Karen,

Received more photos from the seller, and while I think the trailer is in great condition given it's age, it did have leaks. I just don't know enough about these trailers to take on something like obvious signs of the windows leaking...

I've been looking for the 'right' trailer for at least a year, and I'll keep looking!

I love the idea that the teardrops fit in the garage (no storage costs), love that I can tow with my suv, but I really don't like that there is no place for my dog to sleep!

I've been eyeing the "Rondack Lodge" from Steve Frederick - a small recessed area lets you stand up inside, the dining area is inside, has a big bed, galley kitchen outside, AND it fits in the garage! It's really gorgeous, I've been watching the progress every single weekend.

I know you're looking, too, so let me know if your search is luckier than mine!

Karen & DIY,
Here's another link you both might want to keep checking while on your quest to locate a trailer. http://www.teardrops.net/classads01.html

That one is saved in my links menu too :D First trailer I went to see was Karyn’s KIT for sale in Orange County, it's sold now. Woulda been mine too if the financing had gone through. I hate that BoA doesn't give an RV loan for anything under 10,000 :x
