Hi all,

It is with great sadness that my fantasy of keeping two kids small enough to fit in the teardrop has come to and end. Last year we bought a WhiteShadow 5x10 and drove to Canton, Ohio to pick it up. We had a great summer, completing eight trips. This year, the kids are just too big. Although I briefly weighed the idea of selling the kids, we've ultimately decided to move to a larger trailer.

This is a fantastic unit with zero flaws and beautiful construction. Ours is white, with diamond plate front and sport wheels. I've also upgraded to the charger to the battery Tender.

Ben, have you considered adding a SUV tent to the side of the tear for the kids to sleep in...you get to keep the convenience of the tear and the kids get their own bedroom...there are many versions...just attach to the side of the tear...here are several versions... click here

I'd put the kids in a tent too.... make them too comfortable, and you'll never get them to leave home.....

Once they reach 18, I'd turn off the heat and/or A/C in their bedrooms as well... but that's just me. And start leaving the apt. classifieds around where they will see them, like on their hot/cold bed.

Yep, yep, yep, put the kids in thier own tent. You would be supprised how big it'll make them feel. All the years I went camping with my parents and grandparents, I never got to sleep in the teardrop (except for when it was at home in the back yard). I had my own private tent. So there is a solution to your problem unless you just want a bigger trailer. In that case, don't use the kids as an excuse, just go out and get yourself a vintage travel trailer. You'll be just as happy.

Up until last week, I was going to add the trunk tent on. Then my wife got upgrade fever (okay, me to) and we're going into the world of bigger trailers.

I feel like a bad teardroper, but I'll admit it, I want shower in my trailer

Depending on the age of the children, no matter if you have a teardrop or more of a regular trailer, a tent for the children is a good idea. It makes them feel grown up and you get some privacy.

My family travelled from Washington, DC to California in the early '60s. I was the youngest of four kids. My parents and the dog slept inside while the kids were in sleeping bags on the ground. Yep, the dog was inside where it was warm, dry, and no mosquitos while the kids were outside. Course, things were different back then. That was a two-month trip for the six people and a dog in a station wagon and a 16' Shasta Astroflyte.
