Really cool vintage 1948 travel trailer for sale (standup)

Postby 48Rob » Sat Aug 11, 2007 2:47 pm

Hi all,

I have my vintage 1948 Mobile Sportsman travel trailer posted for sale on E bay.

If you’re looking for a very nicely redone shiny silver trailer that is ready to take camping, this might be what you’ve been waiting for…

My family and I have enjoyed the trailer for several years now, but are ready to tackle another rebuild.

This trailer has been rebuilt from the ground up, including a new steel frame.
Everything is either new, rebuilt, or NOS.

There are no leaks, no “smells” no mold, no rot, no soft spots, no stains, or any other problems to worry about. :applause:

If you have further interest, please take a look at the detailed description and photos on the E bay page, and of course you are welcome to E mail me with questions.

Please click here to see the auction!

Thanks!

Rob

Damn, I wish I could afford to buy it. That is sweet. I could bid, anyway, but I know it will go for more than I can spend right now.

Good luck.

Thanks to the complimentary trio!

Your comments are appreciated very much!

It was a lot of fun rebuilding it, and being able to camp in it.
But I have an itch to do another one... :D

Seeing the work you've done on your tear and this one, I wouldn't be afraid to purchase any project you've done. Now if you were closer and I had a rig that would pull it.....

Rob...that's such a beautiful job and a real labor of love...you almost need to interview potential owners....I'd love to have that one and I'll give it a very good home....wanna swap for a really nice mahogany boat with a 2004 Merc? Doug

Superb job Rob  You won't have any trouble selling this one. I hope who ever is privileged to own it gives it the same TLC you have, thanks for preserving a bit of history :applause: Danny

As others have stated, a beautiful restoration. Could you possibly share your aluminum polishing technique?
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Hi Doug,

That would be something!
If I could interview potential buyers, that would mean I'd be running a business full time rebuilding old trailers...

I'm afraid the prices will have to go up a bit before I can afford to do that...but it sure is a nice dream!

Thanks for the compliments.

Oh, I'll have to pass on the boat, canoes and kayaks are more my speed.
Tried a 30 footer on lake Michigan once, up and down, and side to side, and up and down...nope, no more of that for me!

Danny and Tony,

Thank you...haven't had this many compliments in years!

perfect polish.com is a great place to get information and the polish to make a trailer shiny.

No real secret, just a lot of hard work and money :?

Cost me about $800 for the tools and supplies, and 250+ hours of polishing.
Would have been cheaper to hire it out, but it was part of the challenge...
