Posted: Thu May 08, 2008 7:22 pmMy neighbor had one once. It's kind of goofy. It attaches to the bumper rigid. Piece of cake to back up since there is no chance of jack-knifing it. And yes, they are small.

Posted: Thu May 08, 2008 7:58 pmKnew a guy in West "By Gawd" Virginia a decade or so ago who had one attached to his hunting Vee Dubya (Classic 68). He put two dog cages on the trailer and wheeled his beagles all over the state to rabbit hunt.
Neat trailer, as you said it was attached to the rear bumper and the single wheel was (in effect) a castor. It was so much of his car, the car plates were on the trailer and I don't think it was licensed as a trailer. Sure attracted a lot of attention.
BTW there are motorcycle trailers that have one wheel. One brand is uni-go

Posted: Thu May 08, 2008 8:17 pmMy curiosity of single wheel trailers got the best of me and 'sho nuff' there a teardrop single wheeler---no galley, but a 6'6" cabin. Called an Atlas there some pictures of it attached to a vintan vanagon.

1936 Uni-wheel Teardrop

I have been working on my 1936 Uni-wheel teardrop again. This trailer, supposedly, was built by a guy to use for job hunting in the 30's. I'm not sure if it is all true, but that is what the seller told me.

This is truly a one-wheel teardrop with kitchen. Right now I am building the cabinets. I am still looking for a new high-speed 4" x 8" tire though. Does anyone have a source?

4.80x8 seems to be the smallest trailer tyre: Carlisle Tires
The guys who do use 4.00x8 tires are Messerschmit bubble/microcars, so it might be worth asking on the Microcar Forum. As I understand it, there is a Michelin they used to use (and love) but it has just been withdrawn.
