Any Teardrops 4 Sale within a couple hours of Metro Detroit?

I just registered a few minutes ago on this website so I'm a newbie, for sure.

I'm in the northwestern burbs of Metro Detroit and was wondering if anyone knew of a teardrop trailer that might be for sale within a 1-2 hour drive of here (Toledo up to Flint and over to Lansing and down past Jackson to the state line).
Having been deemed physically disabled recently :O (I blew out my shoulder, elbows, and back caring for my sweet handicapped daughter), I can't really deal very easily with camping in a 12' x 12' tent anymore. I happened to stumble across teardrop trailers on the internet for the very first time yesterday and thought they look pretty cool. And, I think they might be a little easier for me to physically deal with since I can keep so much of my gear loaded in one place instead of having to load and unload my Jeep before, during, and after a camping trip.

If anyone can think of any for sale, I would certainly appreciate hearing about it, especially if they are dirt cheap in price but utterly luxurious and in tip-top condition.

Thanks!

Swede

Hey, although born in Ohio, I grew up in the Metro Detroit area before moving out to AZ 12 years ago. My parents live in Sylvania outside of Toledo, so since I'm familiar with the area I'll keep an eye out for you. Be sure to check your local Craigslist on a regular basis.

P.s. You know you're going to quickly outgrow that name as soon as you do find a tear... ah, it'll be nostalgic.

Thanks for the reply

Geez, I must be getting tired. :? When you mentioned outgrowing that name, I was thinking the way I signed off, which was "Swede". Took me a minute to remember that I just registered under "Newbie2Teardrops".
Thanks for the tip on Craig's list. I'll check it out. Good idea!

Newbie2Teardrops, I mean Swede.

Way too tired!

I must be half asleep. I was going to compliment you on your Wrangler and the trailer. Looks cool. :awesome:

My Commander lease is coming up and I'm thinking of buying an '08 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. There's something about a totally convertible SUV after a long Michigan winter :snowstorm: that sounds really good. :fan:

I'd like to get it all chromed out :money: (grill, bumpers, side rails, mirrors, fuel door, lamp guards, seats <g>) and even though I know that black would look the best with all that shiny stuff, I want to get something other than yet another black vehicle like I've had for the last 10+ years. Unfortunately, being colorblind to some extent, I can't figure out if the Rescue Green or Red Rock would look good with all that chrome. If anyone has any thoughts on that, please let me know.

Hey, I wonder if I could get a teardrop to match the new Sahara? I mean the paint color, not the chrome...although that would be quite the sight going down Woodward Avenue in a couple months for the world famous Woodward Dream Cruise...no doors, no roof, windshield folded down, and a matching teardrop trailer...both all chromed out...Hmmmmm. Any manufacturers out there reading this????

Going to bed. :SH

I don't know of any in the metro Detroit area, but if you are willing to go a little farther, you could get a Camp Inn from Cary in Wisconson... or have Steve Frederick build you one in New York.

Hey Swede,
With your enthusiasm - you're going to fit right in around here. Seems like you are flying like a bullet straight towards all things Teardrops and Jeeps! Can't go wrong there.

You will find incredible support on this forum for whatever Tear and Tow vehicle you choose. And what Mike says is very true. You do have more options if you broaden your circle of chance just a little bit.

We have some awesome builders on this forum, so familiarize yourself with their work through their albums and websites. Also, a longer trip to pick up a teardrop is only a hassle on the way "there" to get it... driving your new tear home and camping along the way is pure joy my friend. We even have a member who has a newly purchased Tear being delivered to her from across the country by a relay with a number of our members pitching in.

Of course, all of this becomes possible as you get to know this wonderful community - and they begin to know you. Welcome aboard and thanks for the compliment on my set-up.

Now this!... is an awesome event! I don't know how many of our members are up on this, but it's ground zero and the birthplace for the American Classic Hotrod Cruise. Yeah, that would be interesting with all of the car enthusiast we have here to see if anyone is familiar or has partcipated in the Woodward Dream Cruise! (past or present) Many of my old Michigan clients do it every year.

That would be wild to have a teardrop out there! Quite an addition to the history lesson of the era too.

Newbie...

It all depends what you are looking for. Without outright sending you to one of our dealers, if you like Little Guys, we have one in Flint. Otherwise, I'd echo the thoughts of watching Craigslist.
