Original 1947 Kit Mfg.Teardrop Trailer $5500

Trailer had a frame off rebuild about ten years ago. Frame was primed and repainted. Outer .040 aluminum skin was replaced with four sheets of .060 polished aluminum from Great Dane Trailers through Merritt Equipment in Denver. All original molding was utilized wherever possible.

Trailer has Torque Tube axle with GM 5 bolt pattern wheels with new Discount Tire Arizonian tires under original motorcycle fenders with double filament 1954 Buick taillights. Additional redundant taillight set with three bulb running light set. Interior has two 12v aircraft style reading lights.

Trailer is wired for 110v and 12v also, through the use of a power pack. Hot water side of the faucet in brass bar sink is pressure water; cold water side is gravity feed from new 10 gallon stainless steel tank mounted behind the galley. Tank has exterior filler and overflow vent.

Custom made galley and interior cabinetry is cherry stained oak with six 2 x 2 longitudinal supports attached through the plywood sides with 3” brass screws for rigidity. Bull nosed counter was custom made in mauve Formica and holds the 15” brass bar sink. Roofline and inner skin is attached to six additional 1 x 2 longitudinal supports. All interior surfaces have been covered in gray stain resistance carpeting.

We’ve used a Coleman full size air mattress and full size sheets with single size comforter. Inner shelf could accommodate TV and VCR. Leak free.

Galley lid has just had the frame replaced in birch. Lid locking system has been a jury rig from day one and I never got around to changing it. So there is something to do! There is one small imperfection on the starboard side, just forward of the door, in the polished aluminum where clamp let go and the stock moved during cutting.

This one has been on the front page of the Rocky Mountain News, and a ton of car shows and swap meets throughout the Denver area. After ten years of camping and use, wife now insists on something with heat, a/c, a bathroom, shower and kitchen. Call John at (303) 931-3866 for additional photos or info.

We went to Cortez a few years ago with a Teardrop group, and have camped in RMNP over the course of the last 8 years or so. I've got a lot of other projects in the works and just don't have time for them all. We had a 19' Sun Lite trailer in addition to the Tear and got a little spoiled with the heat, hot water, AC, bathroom, etc.
