It has been a long time since I posted on this forum but I read it a lot. You are all very entertaining (but where do you find the time for all the posts?).

After only a couple of years I am having to sell my camper. Due to medical reasons we have just not been able to use it as we wished and now I have medical bills to pay as well. Ahhh, I remember the days of good, company-provided health insurance....

Below is the ad I intend on posting on ebay for $1800. As so often is the case I have no idea what the going rate is for something like this, but I hope it gets as much attention as the Puffin recently did. Any comments on my price are welcome as well as anyone locally who is interested. Pictures are in my album.

I hope to one day soon try this again with a somewhat different design but in the mean time I might try to build another sailboat this winter. Either way I will keep checking in with you folks as the Teardrop and TTT forum is alive, fun and informative as ever.

Sorry to hear you won't be using it any longer. If it's as nice as it looks, $1,800 will be a steal for somebody.

Sorry to hear that Ed. You really stretched the envelope with your design, adding features that we are still today trying to figure out how to package.

Someone is going to get a really nice trailer.

Mike...

Ed,

You have a neat trailer...Sorry to hear you need to sell it but am glad to hear you will still be checking in with the forum and hope to build another trailer some day.

Being in Minnesota, you are automatically part of the newly formed St. Croix Chapter of Tearjerkers...Even though you will be tear-less, please feel free to join our gatherings if and when you can, even if it is in a tent or only for a day...you are always welcome. We will post info on this forum and on the Tearjerkers forum.

Best of luck to you!

Betsey 8)

Great trailer, Ed...if I wasn't already started with my build, I'd come up and look at it. Probably still should, but...

One question. You state a "lifetime license"...did you register it as a "utility trailer"? I was told by the licensing folks here in New Ulm that a camper doesn't fall under that lifetime license.

Good luck with the medical issues.

Every teardrop trailer I have seen that is registered in MN had the lifetime license. I don't think it needs to be registered as a trailer unless it has a bathroom and full kitchen also.

Ed, Sorry to hear that you have to sell your Teardrop. As Betsey says, you are welcome at our campfire any time, Tear or Tearless. If I were you I'd advertise it on Craig's List first. It's free, unlike e-bay.

Good to know, Tim...thanks. They were looking things up fairly frantically when I first went in to talk to them at the license bureau...I'll just have to make sure we're all on the same page.

In Arizona we have the same issue. I registered the teardrop I bought, and have to pay $28 every two years. Another guy I know of registered the trailer before he built on it, has a lifetime license.

I decided to look online at the Minnesota Statutes and the only thing I could find was that if a trailer had a capacity under 4000 lbs, it could have the lifetime registration like mine has. I'm afraid to ask any more questions at the registrars office for fear of having to go through some big complicated process and having to dish out a bunch of money.

One thing for certain, you have read more about trailer law in Minnesota than the average Department of Motor Vehicles employee. ;)

Thanks for the feedback and replies. I think I will try Craigslist first as suggested. I was going to do an eBay auction starting at $1800 with a buy it now of around $2500 and see what happens, but Craigslist is free. I already have one response form the forum!!

I really hate to see it go, but it should go camping and not sit at my home. I know another day I will design and build again.........

Ed I am so sorry to hear your family has had medical problems. I can relate to those medical bills. Watched you build this and I think you are selling way low. Just my opinion. It is a well thought wonderful family camper. If I had the money I would come get it right now. 8)

Stay in touch
