Benroy style Teardrop $3000 SOLD!!!

Postby vairman » Thu Jan 08, 2009 3:03 pm

I am selling my new custom hand crafted Benroy style teardrop camper. It is built on a 4’x8’ Harbor Freight trailer, with the axel widened 12 inches to accommodate the Teardrops wider width. The tear’s size is 5’ wide, 8’ long, by 4’ tall and weighs approx. 700lbs. and has 12” wheels. The side walls are made from ½” CDX plywood that was cut out with a water jet, and then the voids were filled with foam insulation. I then laminated 5mm luan over both sides of the walls and doors. Both doors have crank out windows with screens. The inside walls and ceiling are clear coated with polyurethane and the outside walls are primed and painted. It has all 12 volt lighting and powered roof vent, deep cycle battery and charger is included, 110v. GFCI protected a/c receptacles are located as follows, 1 inside the tongue box, 1 inside the cabin, and 2 in the galley area. It also has a 5000 btu. A/C unit for those hot summer days. The sleeping area has a 4”thick queen size foam mattress, and convenient storage area above the bed. The galley had a full size counter top set at standard height and storage cabinets above and storage cubbies below. I have used it only 1 time and it pulls like a dream so don’t pass up this deal…

Please PM me if you are interested… Greg

I have a problem with the 'Happy Camper' trailer.

I need to find lots of bad things about it so I won't feel so bad to not have the money to buy it.
As a child I was my own imaginary friend.

only 700 lbs? Did you have it weighed? I have never weighed mine but with the AC on board and that BIG toolbox for a tongue box... seems like it would be a bit heavier...

and for FYI ... what is the "bed" foam? how thick?
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

Well the tool box only weighs about 30lbs. and the A/C is only about 40lbs. as far as the matress goes its 2in. foam and 2" of egg crate foam, and its very comfy... Also the walls are hollow with foam insulation, very lite..

I think you would need a 1500 watt gen. to power it.. I think a 1000 watt may not handle the start-up current...

Very interesting! This is extremely close to the TD I have been designing/desiring, and the price is good. This could save me lots of time and bashed knuckles. Also, unlike most used TDs 4-sale, you are only a 11 hour drive away from Santa Fe.

Please tell me outside dimensions , including overall width fender-to-fender.
