Little Guy Clearance in Memphis, TN

Postby LPBailey » Thu Apr 07, 2005 9:21 am

I visited these guys about three weeks ago just to get a look at the Little Guy. They said the trailers were on clearance and offered a deal of $2500 for my pick. While I wanted something a bit more loaded I hadn't considered one until I heard that price and realized it wasn't a 40 hour drive (round trip) to get it so I drove back the next week and took one home. At the moment it's being tweaked to meet my desires but they still have two left. Here's their website:

They still have the red striped one and the green and blue wavy design. You can see a tiny bit of mine in the background of the first picture. If you're in the area you might want to take a look. It's a pretty decent deal on a teardrop you can drive away with and make your own with a little work.

Well there ya go, congratulations... you got a really good price on that too!

Looking at the show special here, you got a REALLY good price. But what are you going to do with that over-simplified galley you have?

Can a full galley be built and then inserted into the back? That is the one big thing about the little guy that is lacking for those who want to use it as a kitchen galley. How would it be attached?

Great deal though!

If it were mine, I would probably split the movable counter into 2 halves. Then I would build a cabinet that would be positioned above the sleepers feet, far enough forward, so that the movable counters would still work.

I would probably have the cabinet partitioned into 3 sections, with dividers inbetween each section. Then I would have 6 doors, 3 on each side.

Then you can choose if you want to store clothing in it, or food, or even a TV.

Just my $.015 worth. (inflation is killing me!)

It doesn't bother me

Postby LPBailey » Thu Apr 07, 2005 11:45 am

Put me in the minority but the minimalist galley has never really bothered me.

I view the area as an empty slate where I can do whatever needs to be done at that moment. Since the trailer can’t easily go anywhere without a vehicle to tow it I can use the cargo area of my Jeep to store the stove and anything else I need and put it on the shelf as needed. Having a few drawers onboard would be handy but I can make do with what I have easily enough.

As for my customizing I’ve installed a 15amp shore power connection that’s accessible from the galley area and the cabin and a Brinkman flashlight in the cabin. As soon as they arrive I plan to install the change trays I got from Camp-Inn (I’m one of the lucky four). It’s still being debated whether I want to put a TV in the center area of the cabinets. While watching the news before calling it a night is a nice idea, it does get in the way of interior storage. I may just get one of those hand-held lcd tvs. They are less than $100, require only batteries, and take up almost no room.

The trailer is still a work in progress but hopefully in a month or two I’ll take it somewhere other than the backyard.

This is the beginning of mine. I'm working on the drawers and storage on the top section. It will also have a drop section off of the slide out. A work in progress.

Nice Counter

Postby LPBailey » Tue Apr 12, 2005 9:06 pm

The extending counter is a nice touch. That might be a project idea for later.

It looks like a neighbor will be getting one of the two remaining teardrops. Sadly they plan to use it to carry their supplies and food when going to catering gigs rather than camping. Still, they would be getting a fair deal on a nice machine. They're still debating but they do like mine so that's a good sign.

As soon as I finish my customizing (which should hopefully be this weekend) I'll try to post some in one of the other message areas.
