teardrops for under 1500?

Postby slacker » Mon Apr 13, 2009 8:57 pm

Hello my wife and I are young and we're looking for a nice little teardrop, I don't know what is and is not standard on these little guys so I apologize if I say something no so smart.. lol.. I'd really just like somthing basic, with some storage, electric hookup (to fit the camp ground hookups), a little room inside to chill with my wife and dog, alsoo maybe possibly future A/C hookup location, I don't know, I want a weekend teardrop to go out have fun and be comfertable. Anyone got any insight on one for around 1k - 1500??? I am about to sell my boat sooo I'll have the money really soon! Thanks!

I live in Dallas Texas but am willing to travel and pick up!

Slacker, 1,500 is extremely cheap for one of these little gems. For the price your looking at, you might consider an older small trailer that needs a lil work.

As far as a good teardrop for a reasonable price, mark has one listed right under this post at the moment for 2,200 and that is an excellent price for what you would get.

Bill in FL has one that already has central heat & air via a petcool unit. for 2,300

I'm not saying that there are no good teardrops for that price, but you'll need to keep your eye out for awhile. Best bet is to watch craigslist. CraigsHelper should be your best friend.

I am starting to build my second TD, and I plan to spend around that much. It all depends on how fancy you want to get, and how much of your own work you are willing to do. I am going pretty basic, but my work will be done well. And, I expect to have a nice, well built, basic TD.

If you want to buy one already done, then you will need to wait and see if one comes up that cheap. You may have to wait a long time.

It has been done and will be done again. A member just sold his Weekender for that amount and it was worth way more. Would have been perfect for 2 people and dogs.

Keep looking here and on Craigs list, you will find one if you really look.

oh and Image to the playground. Be sure to look around a lot. 8) You never know what will turn up.

First step would be to repaint it -- I don't think I'd want it black in Texas (or Florida where I live)!

Slacker, it would be a long drive for you on I-10 all the way to Tallahassee, Florida, but here's one for $1,400:

http://tallahassee.craigslist.org/rvs/1131904595.html

1939 Style, built on new 4x8 trailer, 2x4 framing, 2 windows, 10 coats of UV clear protection on oak plywood. Does not have built in cabinets or a back hatch. It has removable hardwood flooring.
Easy Pull 850 386-5812 BEFORE 9:00pm

It doesn't seem to offer any storage or a galley, but that could come later.

No relation or personal interests involved.
