n/g for a tear. that thing is made to carry tons.... the suspension would have to be altered drastically.

Too bad, because it sure would look cool!

Hmm Lead insulated walls? It'll keep you warm and in the event of a thermo nuclear war you'd be safe!

Now you're thinkin'

Yeah, yeah now you're thinkin'. How is lead to work with, can I cut it curved or would the squared off weekender be better....? And to heck with all this lightweight stuff. I'll frame it with 4x4's and 2x8's.

AL

you could build a (not so ) tiny house on that, for sure.

2x6s and steel siding, even.

Why do I have the feeling that one wheel would be over my towing limit?

They are auctioned off all the time off the military auction site (gov't liquidation). Getting something like that: the axle is hugely large, the brake drums (mil trailers come with parking brake) weight 85#s each, tires/wheels are also heavy in the 120-150# range depending if 16" or 20" rims, rims will be split style, frame tongue will be welded 3/16 or 1/4" thick 'C' channel, tongue is a lunette style so a pintle hitch coupling will be necessary, the mil lights are 24v so new 12v bulbs will be required but they don't exactly swap directly in, the tongue stand looks like it has the dual wheels so it flips up/down and it weighs 150#. Dry unloaded, the trailer frame is near 1250#s. It is designed to carry generators offroad to remote areas. If you have the capability of towing this with a vehicle, look at adding a military non-expansion shelter. They fit directly on. The shelter will weigh between 800-2000#s depending on the purpose of the shelter and overall size. Some are doubled wall and protected from magnetic fields.

Hey!

Hey, could you like build a teardrop that would shoot missiles or something?

(You could always get the best campsite...And if any big RV'ers give you any mess, you could take em' out...) GRIN!

AL.

Oops, just remembered taking out RV's with missiles probably violates the teardrop gathering etiquette rules posted in that sticky on the other page...

A missile would not be a violation if there is a constantly yapping small dog and a constantly running generator. If however it's a constantly barking large dog, generator, and loud stereo, radio,or television constantly blaring, a limited thermo-nucler device could be substituted.

Dave

Gonna build me a missile-shootin' teardrop

It continues to blow my mind that people really do that. Why drive all the way out to the wilderness country just to set inside and watch TV? I mean really, why would anyone want to do that? It makes no sense, does it?

And the loud stereos, loud generators, that's just rudeness.

Gonna join NRA and build me a missile-shootin' teardrop, and things are gonna change!

AL
