Hello all.

I am looking for 1) advice on a trailer on ebay and/or
2) a trailer for sale or loan or donation (tax deductible) to use while traveling and doing Lyme disease therapy.

I am considering bidding on a Teardrop on Ebay that closes today - in under 4 hours! - and thus becoming a member of what seems like a really great community. That said, I have health and financial limitations, and was hoping that someone with teardrop experience could give me a call and talk to me a bit before I bite the bullet, as the trailer is more expensive than I can really afford.

I am having trouble making an INFORMED choice, given my lack of teardrop knowledge... and am looking for someone to talk to about it.

Basically, I am looking for a teardrop to use as a "safe-room", allowing me to visit Lyme disease doctors further afield, and also to rekindle the spirit of travel and adventure that Lyme disease has slowly eroded from my life (I did 4 years of volunteering in endangered species field programs before getting sick a few years back...). So I have both financial issues and chemical sensitivities to work around. The ideal trailer also needs to be big enough for me to do therapy from (I am part of a trial using medical Ozone for Lyme - like they use in the UK and Cuba - so I am free to do therapy from anywhere is I am brave enough and careful enough.

The trailer in question on ebay seems ideal for me, but it is starting to get rather too expensive (its at $2,500 now and climbing), and I am wondering if I might expect to see anything cheaper (in the NorthEast, and mold-free) come along if I am patient, or perhaps I should just go for it and do a bunch of find raising after the fact....

Heres' the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... p:en#v4-36

its not perfect, 1)there has been some leakage into the kitchen area that needs work and 2) it doesn't have a ceiling vent and 3) it doesn't seem to come with any cooking stove or gear and I was hoping for a tongue box to store my oxygen concentrator....

(PS Please please don't now go outbid me, eh? I could really just trailer, and I put it up here to get as much help/advice as possible...)

The other option: I am told I would qualify for the donate a car/trailer for charity program, and a US lawyer told me that it would be a pretty simple process to have someone get a tax rebate for the full retail value of their trailer should they choose to donate it.

Or perhaps a teardrop on loan is an option?

Do any of these things sound possible????

Thanks for any and all advice!
Merilee

PS I am also a professional cellist, and plan on giving informal concerts as I travel in my teardrop. So, cello by the campfire, anyone? Also, I plan on busking in all the major cities I go by, handing out Lyme disease info and raising money for ongoing travel and treatment. At least that is the thought... it could be pretty cool....

Looks like it sold for quite a lot..........I hope you find what you need. I can understand the mold and environmental issues...... If something has water damage it could have mold and mildew issues too. Have you been inside a TD?

Sorry Merilee that you missed on this one...

I would take some "teardrop time" to read up, ask questions, and wrap your head around the whole trailer issue. Rushing to hit a 4 hour ebay deadline wouldn't have helped anyone but that seller!

Go ahead and introduce yourself in the newby section, give folks an understanding of your needs, your tow vehicle and intended use, and that will help.

Best wishes...

This is very much a do your home work thing. There are with great regularity teardrops on E-bay, some of home made ones are just plain scary others are a good deal. If you wish advice there is going to be a diversity of opinions but with the many voices there is a good bit of experience a sense.
You have but to ask :)
