Does anyone know where to get an inexpensive incumbent bike? I would really like one. I am looking for something around 200 - 350 dollars if possible. I have done some searches but usually they are for VERY costly units! How about plans for building ones own? Any ideas? Maybe I can build one after my Teardrop is done ! :applause: Thanks

Good Luck! Recumbants are all expensive. Get out your thickest wad of money when you go to buy one. I've seen some used ones going for as little as $1,500, but nothing less than that. I've heard of some user-built bikes, but never seen one.

Well, my note got erased by accident... join this group.

http://www.bentrideronline.com/

do a search on 'bent rider'....

I have two, one long wheel base, one short.... long is easier for a beginner, short is a bit twitchier and faster.....

search on 'easy racers ez-1' for a 'bent under $600......

OR buy this book. It shows you how to build a recumbent...

P.S. Oh yes, here's an interesting page...

P.P.S. Gee, that's a foot forward design... all you have to do is add a motor and we'll have Andrew interested!

I bought a mig welder and tried to build a recumbent... unless someone is really, really into it, just go to a recumbent dealer and ride a bunch then buy the best one you can afford.....

Well, it was easy enough for me to understand... after all, in the last election, I voted for the recumbent, but he lost anyway....

Try Bentech: http://members.aol.com/domerie/bentech.htm. That is where I purchased my plans. I have all the metal set aside and ready to go, but it will have to wait until I actually finish up the tear. Too many projects, too little time......

Back in the 70s I was a M/E News subscriber... I think the mag. went away for a while... now it is back and I subscribed again. But I think it is my age. Not that interesting to me anymore... I'm just glad I have a roof over my head, even if it doesn't have a solar panel on it.

btw, my h/f solar panel seems to be keeping my battery up nicely between trips....
