Their site sez that the unloaded weight is 970# for the 5 foot wide model. The 2000# is probably the max weight that you should load it up to. Similarly, in the US the towing capacity of cars is not always determined by what weight they can safely tow. It may be the weight a vehicle tow and still meet emissions requirements.
