$5500 seems a bit steep... When you remove the boat, there is no top... :o
I am not a complete idiot, some parts are missing...

HaHaHa! He's only had the boat in the water once.

It looks like there's no roof except when the boat is on it. So, if you take your boat out for a row, you have to lock everything up in the tow vehicle and, if it rains while you're out, the bed gets wet?

It was fun looking at it! Thanks for sharing. :applause:

Amazing design flaw. If only the builder had been on the forum, Gage coulda set him straight. 8)

Yeah, I agree that's kind of a design flaw. Still, interesting and one could get a few good ideas from that.... hmmmm...

It would be easier, and lighter if, he had bought a metal jon boat, then built the camper under it. Can only imagine how much the boat weighs. Had a 10 ft jon that weighed 70 pounds. Yep, the design flaw is no roof while using boat.

So the missing roof is a design flaw, but it's pretty clear this was done for headroom. If he had just build a roof that fits inside the boat, this would be a great little design. Yes, a little john boat probably would have been lighter, but it seems to me we all build things because we enjoy building things. Not because it's necessarily cheaper, lighter or better, safer etc.

This does have me thinking a trailer-boat build could be fun.

I've seen video, somewhere, of the same concept... BUT, the video shows one that does have a roof that "fits" the boat's hull shape.
