This factory built trailer is one of the smallest ever made, and was designed to be pulled behind compact cars. From the factory, it weighed 655 pounds. I believe only a handful were made between 1978 and 1983. It's 5ft. wide by about 10ft long, including the tongue. It's 54 inches tall inside, which means that short people can stand up inside. :) We had a ball camping with this trailer last year, but with a new puppy and a grandson soon turning 1, we went to a larger Sunline.

The unit is in camp-ready condition as is. We built a ¾” plywood raised bed that fills the interior space, and made cushions out of 3” high density foam. It is incredibly comfortable to sleep in (better than my regular bed). It has three new radial trailer tires, 2 with less than 1000 miles on them, and the spare with no miles on it. All the bearings and seals in the wheel hubs are new in 2011. It has been completely re-wired for legal running lights and has a standard 4 prong flat connector and all new running lights. It has a side door (rebuilt due to substantial rot), a rear compartment hatch, two rear doors and three functioning louver windows, as well as a sliding frosted glass/screen window in the door. It has two 5,000# scissor jacks on the back for leveling, and the factory wrench thing for the jacks. There were no keys when we bought it. We replaced both the main door and back hatch doors with regular entry door locks, both keyed the same. We also installed a new rear lower hatch lock. The 12v system (a front and rear compartment light) is functional, but needs a deep cycle battery. It does have original Sunline hubcaps.

Things that I have that can go with this trailer are a 60 amp load center with a 15 amp breaker and a 25’ 15 amp cable for regular house or campground power (plus the outlet from the trailer for the cable), a 12V car battery (not deep cycle, but a good battery with a full charge), and a length of 7 wire cable that I planned on using with a 7 prong connector to wire the trailer as it was originally.

I'm south of Albany, NY. The trailer is kept in my pole barn. I can deliver or drive it to anyone within a reasonable distance. It is currently registered as a home-built trailer, licensed and has NYS inspection for 2012. I also have the original serial number if anyone would want to try to register it as an original Sunline.

Here's a bunch of pics of the project! http://s225.photobucket.com/albums/dd29 ... 20Sunspot/

Any questions, please pm me. Thanks!

One of the last things I did was put all new plastic trim around the doors and windows. Much of it was missing or badly cracked.

Thanks!

Gee, over 200 views and no interest. Any suggestions? I'm open to about anything!

Thanks, and have a great day.

Frank:

Your asking price seems almost too cheap, like I combed through everything trying to figure out what was wrong with it. Have you tried Ebay or Craigslist to get to a wider audience? You might also list it on tearjerkers.net if you haven't already.

If I had the money floating around, I would certainly come to take a look at it at that price, but alas, I'm in the middle of a build, and saving for a 4000 mile trek in August.

I wish you offered this at the beginning of the year. :(

Gee Paul, my brother said I should ask 2500 bucks, but my thing was I just wanted somebody to get a good deal that needed a good deal. I figured I'd offer it for 1500 bucks and off it would fly to some happy young (or young-thinking!) couple who could really enjoy this cool little camper. There is nothing wrong with it at this point, but it took a bunch of time and $ to get it there! New wiring, all new lights, rebuilt hubs, leveling jacks on the back, a REAL comfortable bed (I'm gonna miss it trust me), and it hauls like a dream. The bed cushions were designed to make into seats on opposite sides of a table too, just never got that far.

If it hadn't been for us having a grandchild (yay!) and then getting a puppy (yay!), we would have been using it again this year, but a deal came up on a slightly bigger Sunline and we scraped our $ together and bought it. While I don't need two travel trailers, it's like having an extra couple guest bedrooms when any of my kids and their significant others come. On the other hand, some cash would help me with a few improvements we'd like for the "new" trailer.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe as a result, somebody will grab this classic tiny travel trailer. When we get back from our weekend camping trip (38th anniversary too!), I'll list it over on tearjerkers. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks Paul, that is greatly appreciated. Gail and I have had a great time over 4 decades. It must be because I'm so easy...
