Looking for the perfect travel trailer.

Looking for a travel trailer, pre 1980, in good shape and capable of sleeping 2 teenagers and two adults. Would like bathroom and shower, and the teenagers cannot share a bed, as they are boy / girl. Additional consideration is I am 6'4" tall, and weigh in at 250 lbs. :frightened:

The floorplan I have seen that I really like has permanent bunk beds, but will consider a permanent adult bed, dinette and upper bunk.

I do not think anyone makes the perfect travel trailer. Most pre 1980 units unless stored inside out of the weather, will be full of rotten timber behind the walls. Considering many factors, such as condition, resale value, and build quality, avion and airstream are one of the best values for your investment. If you can find one at a fair price, they hold their value better than a lot of the stick and tin units. Newer units seem to have better floor plans in my opinion than the older ones. One with rear fold up bunks that fold to store bikes while in transit is a great feature. Much also depends on your tow vehicle and how much you are willing to drag behind you. Good luck with your search. Bill

Thanks, Bill,

Unfortunately, Airstreams in my price range require total rebuild, and my budget with these kids is quite constrained. I'd love to find one campable, or even a Silver Streak, but I'm not holding my breath. :D

I have a Dodge Ram 1500, so towing won't be a problem.

Thanks for the links, Kathy, but most are too expensive and all are too big! 16' would be ideal, 19' maximum I would consider. I might settle for less, but I don't want to pull around something bigger than the average tiny house!

I am most apt to give on the age. If I find what I need in a 2006 for the right price, I will buy it. Then, in 6 years when these kids are gone, I'll be back looking for a Burro or similar.

Thanks, Gage! I'd rather build, but time is tight, and so is money!
