2014 5x10 with air and more! Sold to first looker!

Postby darrellbeck » Sat Jan 03, 2015 7:32 pm

This teardrop trailer was built with the best of everything. It has all of the following: SOLD
Tube steel frame built specifically for this camper by a professional welder.SOLD
New Trailer tires (TRAILER tires, NOT automotive. These make it tow better and more safely).
Rides on a 2100 pound rated torsion axle with sealed bearing automotive spindles. Does not bounce and hop like a spring mounted trailer, plus never need greasing.
Real spoked 15 inch wheels
Full skin of factory painted aluminum
Aluminum fenders
6 contact connector to the tow vehicle, so battery charges off auto electrical
Will come with a NEW deep cycle battery. (Present battery will not last a full week-end. New should last a week under normal use)
3/4 inch exterior grade plywood floor
3/4 inch birch sidewalls
Walls and floor secured to frame with adhesive as well as 16 carriage bolts and over 100 screws
Full width aluminum carry-all box with gas support struts
Hurricane hinge on the hatch (more expensive than the more commonly used ones, but NO leaks)
NO leaks even when washed with the wand at the do-it-yourself car wash
Gas supports on the hatch cover
Two double lights on hatch for kitchen area
Lots of storage in kitchen area
Table (carried in position as lower cabinet front attaches to the kitchen counter-top to form a L shaped work area)
Cooler comes with camper
Seven Gallon water container comes with camper
Propane cook-stove comes with camper
Two 12 volt power outlets in kitchen
Two 120 volt (four outlets total) GFI protected outlets
Commercially made doors with sliding window, screen, and double lock (cost: $300 each but no warpage ever to cause leaks like the homemade wooden ones can do)
Inside, everything but the ceiling is made from 3/4 inch birch. You don't have to be concerned about bumping into and cracking a cabinet door
It has a Queen sized bed with 8 inch memory foam mattress.
Two cabinets (approx 20x20x20) flank the electric control and AC above the bed
Control for the electric comes from a unit that has an inverter to change the 120 to 12 volt so that all lights and the four 12v power outlets in the cabin as well as the battery charging are powered automatically by the inverter when you are connected to external 120v power. The lights and power outlets are automatticaly powered by the battery whenever you have no 120v power source. This also contains the breakers for the 120v and the fuses for the 12v
Over the inverter is a 5,000 btu AC unit that will make the interior as cold as you want no matter what the outside temp is
Each four plug outlet ( one above the bed, the other on the cabinet at the front of the cabin) has its own Gfi protection.
Over the bed (in the ceiling) is a multi speed, reversible fan, great for air flow and cooling when you don't have 120v power, or even when you do.
On the walls over the bed on each side are clothing hooks, as well as cup holders.
At the front of the cabin are 10 inch deep cabinets with a full width shelf above and a full width compartment below.
One of the four plug 120v outlets and two more 12v power sources are located in the face of these cabinets, along with two led reading lights.
Pulling this unit on basically flat land costs me about a one mile per gallon drop (about 5%) at highway speeds with my six cylinder Silverado. Mountains drop the economy by another one to one and one half mpg (10 to 12 1/2 percent total).
This camper will go right in any automotive garage, so there are no storage costs, or the inconvenience
of going after it or returning it to storage.
If it sounds as if this teardrop was built with loving care, that would be correct. The reason I am selling it
is that while I can break down my handicap scooter and put it in the trunk of my tow car, which is what I planned, my wife now rides one also. I now need to build a camper to accommodate the two scooters.

Now, if you are anything like me you are saying to yourself that you can build one yourself and save money. You may well be able to. The question is will you. And if you do build one using the same quality of materials, and spend the same time on the build, you would only be able to pay yourself about $3.00 per hour in order to match my price of $5,900. Is your time worth that little? Like I stated, the only reason I am selling it is because I HAVE to have a different design in order for my wife to go along, and we both love this way of camping especially if we can use our old car(we like it better than camping in the 36 ft pusher diesel motor home, which is what we had prior to this).

Looks like my pictures did not make it. I guess you will have to click on my name, that makes them show up. Or if you are interested in the TD, I can email some to you.
