In the late 1930's a company sold plans to build a teardrop with a unique front galley. It was called a Jim Dandy sportsman. A few years ago I picked up a project which was in rough shape. I don't know when it was originally built but I repaired it and then changed the appearance by siding it with cedar boards and covering the roof with corrugated, galvanized steel panels. Was registered as a utility trailer and has a CA PTI plate good until 2017. It has been fun to take to gatherings and even a couple of car shows but now it is time to move on.
As a camper it is quite primitive. No electricity, no insulation, one door. It is 4'9" wide and the body is 8' long. The chassis is old channel iron and it has a modified torsion axle suspension. Uses 16" bias ply tube tires on old Ford wheels. Tows great and I took it on a 7500+ mile trip to the Louisiana Cypress Wood gathering three years ago. Also won the "Peoples Choice" award at the 2012 IRG. It gathers lots of interest and lookers wherever it is. Would be great behind an old truck or vintage car. Could be taken to car shows and other gatherings. I am asking $2000[img][img][/img][/img]. Fenders have been added since pics were taken. Many of my images are too large for attachments here. I can send pics by email if you are interested. Please contact me by PM or call Jerome Guffey at 707-445-2176.
