Ok well I built this with the intent to sell, have been taking it around to various camper and car shows, towing it with my '48 Chevy PU. So I guess it's time. Asking $4500 and Here's what it is...
A complete professional re-creation of a 1959 Scotty Sportsman 12, or Rear door as they have become to be known. Had a complete 59 camper, but was total junk, even the frame. They only built these for 2 years, something like 250 units. Used factory specs and side skins templates for everything...body dimensions, layout design. Used a modern trailer frame to start, modified it to the factory size, has new axle, tires and wheels, wood shell, aluminum skin, birch interior, original propane stove , light and sink, period 110 vt lights, reproduction Ice box, original emblems, Gaucho style bed with 4" sectioned foam mattress( bed slides into a couch), period lighting on exterior, new period style trim but modern sealant, original vent, period looking but slider windows,
Storage compartment under bed, accessable from outside, lockable, 2" ball, 4 pin wiring connector,
Located in Central IN, can deliver anywhere, have clear IN title, which came with the frame...a 1986!
Weighs 950#, tows extremely well, price includes vintage decorating items
Sat out in a hard rain storm...no leaks! Stored indoors.
Let's talk!

Keep in mind this is a tiny camper! The bed is 71 1/2" long, and 47" wide. Slides into a couch about half as wide as the bed.

Hey there,
At the risk of sounding wordy, I fellow BB person threw a link to your build so I could see a little of what is underneath. That was one of my concerns. I am sure you have answered a bunch of questions from the number of views your little repro has become a sweet destination for many including myself. I have seen your SRD in a museum only and then in photos. I have never set foot in one but your vintage repro looks sweeter than the new versions that they are cranking out in PA now. I am the guy that wears the lumberjack shirt that has cut down trees, made log furniture and likes the old ways. I may have mentioned before that this is the coolest thing on two wheels that I have seen in a long time. The price is coming closer to where I may be able to afford. I am a school teacher in Virginia.

I will be setting off for an extended trip in a teardrop that has not been out the garage in two years. I plan to carefully check it for sealing against rain penetration before I start on the trip. What sealant do you advocate now? Thanks.

Don
I used a combination of Butyl tape and RV ProFlex sealant
