We city boys are collecting the tossed out satelite dishs the round ones are excellent almost exactly the same size and concave just a bit lighter and without a mounting hole to weld shut.

I picked up a oval shaped triple pickup one over the weekend anxious to see if the geometry works as a dutch oven stand.

Careful here most of the dishes are aluminum and quite thin and if you get some good heat going it may melt through.... Aluminum melts at about 1400°... I would set up dish on a couple of bricks and build a test fire and see how much heat dish can stand before going to far with it as base for DO stand...

The two that I have are light gage stamped steel and as most of the heat rises I feel confident it should survive.

I will however keep an eye on that possability. I truly would hate to be half way to dinner and have a gallon of hot stew and a dozen hot coals in my socks.

And before even bringing it home, throw a magnet on it to see if its aluminum or steel. Magnet won't stick to aluminum.

While absolutely sure the satelite reflector dish was stamped steel I did take a magnet and check and I was right it is.

The table is complete except for the lower shelf which I will build today.

It looks really, really, good. I know ya need pics and if bridezilla ever get her camera back from the kids I will get several shots.

Build took less than 30 minutes, most of that was finding the tools.

One really nice height adjustable dutch oven table 10.01 with tax.

walker 6.40
nuts and bolts 1.82
pipe clamps 1.79
and one salvaged satelite dish

The 4 pipe clamps are bolted to the dish and when installed on the walker they go over the walker on either side of the right and left hand grip. This keeps the dish from sliding. I could have bolted the clamps solid on the walker handle but chose to simply pin them with a linch pin from the farm store. These are a little circle of spring steel with a small diameter pin. I simply insert the pin and flip the little circular spring around the pipe clamp and it is solid. I liked the linch pin idea for quick no tool breakdown for easy transport. The accessory shelf will simply rest on the lower leg bracket held from shifting side to side by 1x1 cleats while the shelf itsself will be made of 1x2's screwed to these cleats. I may have to get crazy and stain and finish it just for giggles.

I would cut off those rubber grips if I were you, they will surely melt...

Otherwise, that looks mighty fine!

I am betting it won't get that hot that far out but we will see.

Hell at my age I might need that walker soon.

My DO stand is a 3/16" piece of aluminum plate, that sits on my Camp Chef Expedition stove. I got it hot enough to warp the first time I used it!

It warped because I dumped a pile of coals there to use later. I guess a pile of coals can get pretty hot!

That is by far the best use I have ever seen for a TV satellite dish.

 8) Was waiting for good instructions. I don't have time to wander the hardware store and my imagination is hiding out.....

You did a great job BH..Just great. My walker is free too so I guess I will make it to the hardware store. Might make a cutting board for it too...

Uh mine is way too heavy to be aluminum..Way too heavy.
