I'm working on one using AutoCAD at the moment, I'm working on a few changes from the typical design:
1) Full-height galley hatch with the body moved forward on the trailer frame so the hatch does not have the under-curved panel, like
zapj's2) Stretched the cabin to make almost full use of 4x10' plywood, increasing the storage at the head of the bed by lengthening the upper and lower front panels plus the floor.
3) The front wall of the tear will be fully vertical behind the tongue box, making the lower angled nose panels only ~9-12" wide per side.
4) A 5k BTU air conditioner stored in the nose, with a door and drawer slides to extend it forward once parked.
5)
absolutsnwbrdr's raised bed design to cross the wheel wells without intrusion into our leg space, plus cantilever out to 62" to fit a 60x80" queen mattress on a 4x8 HF frame.
My biggest concern is tongue weight for moving it around the driveway (my current TV has a Class IV hitch), but smart battery positioning should help with that. Another issue is how to support the bed floor forward of the frame, beyond tying it into the tongue box and skirting around it. Another issue is balancing tongue box height, air conditioner clearance, A-frame jack handle clearance and the ability to open the tailgate on my SUV (as my dog typically rides in her cage with the door at the tailgate).
I'm planning premade doors and a painted finish, probably tan exterior walls, white roof, white interior, I haven't picked an overall theme yet. I'm a few weeks from finishing building a shed in my back yard, then I can empty a ton of junk from my garage and basement and build the tear for next season. Ideally, my objective is to be ready for a debut trip to the Chesapeake Tearjerker's St Patrick's Day festivities.
