Howdy, I did it with a regular router and flush trim bit on both .040 and .063 anodized aluminum. As said before, go slow, eye protection. gloves and wear long sleeves; those little chips burn like mad. Just sayin'.

As above post,

Yep its fine, I did it with both sides, good quality freud bit and slow speed.

Arm/Eye and Hand protection is essential, as seen lol. Maybe wear a baseball cap to avoid getting alu in your eyes when you take your goggles off then scratch head. (I did it)

On hindsight mind, I got stuck in a couple of places. If I could do it again, id have trimmed it all with my good old (ancient) black and decker sheet metal trimmer. I used this whilst skinning the doors and it was far quicker/safer and cleaner.

It got right upto the edges without issue

When the chips fly, I get out the hard had with full face shield. I still have the safety goggles on behind it, but the hard hat and shield keep the chips off my face and hair.
