Pickin up my teardrop this weekend! Few Questions

Postby Jray » Fri Jul 19, 2013 9:36 am

Finally going for it. Found an awesome deal on this 1947 Tourette Teardrop that I couldn't pass up. We're going to pick it up on Saturday.

Does anybody here own one of these Tourette style teardrops? I know its a little big larger than most teardrops, but my only concern with it is the sleeping area. It looks like the wheel wells on the inside go right where your legs would go. Can anybody that owns or has owned one of these shed some light on how comfortable the insides of these are? I read somewhere that a queen size mattress can fit inside, so maybe I'm worried for nothing! Thanks a lot!

Never been in one, so I can't answer your questions, however wanted to mention, that is a very good looking trailer! Congrats on the purchase.

Unless you sleep on the edge of the bed, you'll never notice the wheel wells. Nice Tourette, looks all original.

Jray look through some of the build threads there are a couple of folks restoring a couple of them on here. I believe there is one of the build jobs is on the west coast and one on the east coast. Good luck and its a nice looking Tourette!

Cliff

We say Miss Piggy has a queen size bed, but although the mattress t is 58 1/2" for the most part. It is only 48" between the wheel wells ( which is from about our knees down).
We don't even notice it.
Good Luck with your new trailer.
