True.
Though I have a new idea to possibly find a vintage table, now I want the yellow cracked ice instead of aqua boomerang, and cut it down to the 15" measurement I need. I'd hate to wreck a vintage table in good condition but often they seem to have at least one flaw (crack, chip, or discolored patch) in the laminate so that could be the side I discard after cutting a low backsplash from it. Or I may just use stainless for the backsplash. The vintage tables seem to go on Craigslist for around $100 in this area. If there's a way to safely cut a table down without damaging the wood, formica, or metal edge this may be the way to go though it won't be the full 68" length. Which is ok. I think I've come up with a way around the length issue.

But I do love the idea of using a sheet of stainless steel for the countertop too. It's pretty and durable.
The Hunter apologies if all of this countertop talk is taking your thread off topic. Not sure if you will consider it on or off. Hopefully it's info that will be useful to you.
