A lot of stuff in our house is garage sale treasures, not to mention the teardrop. I built my teardrop to have a vintage look and have picked up some stuff along the way... I guess I'm into kitsch.
I have a hand fan for a wall decoration, the kind made of cardboard with a thin wooden handle, that has a cool picture of Smokey the Bear,,, "Only your can prevent forest fires." It looks like it's from the 1950's.
I also picked up a set of Tupperware salt & pepper shakers with the stand for twenty five cents. They work great because they have a flip up lid that seals them & helps stop the salt from clumping due to humidity.
I got an fantastic vintage 4 seat metal fold up picnic table for $5.00.
My Coleman propane camp stove new in the box set me back $7.00.
While looking into polishing the aluminum on the outside of the teardrop, I read about the Cyclo polisher that a lot of aviation buffs use to polish airplanes and also used a lot for polishing vintage Airstream trailers. Since these are a specialty type tool, I had no hope of finding one at a garage sale, until a couple of weeks later... I kid you not, I picked one up for $7.00 at a garage sale. The only thing is, now that I have it, I've decided to let the trailer weather out instead of polishing it. After talking to some folks with polished campers, and seeing that mine is stored outside under a lean to on my shop, it's just not worth the trouble to me. I would rather camp than polish my trailer!
