ID help, 1965?? Pathfinder

Postby MacGyverF » Tue Aug 13, 2013 10:42 pm

So, I'm no longer camper-less. The price was right so I snatched it up.The bottom looks brand new, fresh coating of black sealant. New wheels, tires, bearings. Only minimal evidence of water seepage around the bottom of the front window which was promptly sealed by my buddy before I picked it up (thanks Phil). Floor feels solid as a rock and it towed straight as an arrow. The inside looks fairly decent for it's age (pics to follow). The green paint accents are not original though I don't know if the design of them is. And the round window in the door is an obvious add-on by a previous owner as well as the amber lights along the top-front. I don't have much info on it, other than it is a Pathfinder built here in WI. In all honesty, I haven't even measured it yet though I estimate it to be in the 10' range. Any info you can give on this would be welcome. My best guess would put it in the 1965 range but I have next to no experience so I defer to forum. (no registration info or history).

I'd be glad to snap and post any pics that may help a proper ID.

(I also posted this as an update to my "Newbie" thread. I hope the cross-posting isn't frowned upon here. I didn't know if I'd get many hits/views on it over there.)

Look at the interior of the stove, water heater/furnace or heater if equipped, bottom of the sink, water tank, etc, for production dates.
That will get you close on the year.
Look also on the tongue, usually curbside on top for a stamped serial number.
It may be under many layers of paint.
The date should be part of that number.
Some (not many) have a paper label glued inside a cabinet or closet or under a bench that displays build info.

Thanks for the tips, Rob. I wouldn't have thought to look at the accessories for dates; very clever. I'll do some digging when I get home from work

 It has the rounded canned ham shape, and round window in the door.... I'm thinking early 60's. But that's just my guess. Another thing to look at is the metal badge between the door and window. IF I remember right they changed during the early 60's. I think Pathfinders were made in Chilton, WI.. DH would know more that me though.
