If I stare at my Teardrop long enough will I finally get it figured out so I can finish it?

I spent 4 hours yesterday looking at it, measuring 50 times, doodling, drawing, scratching my head, finally made 4 cuts.....now I think i am going to redo it. Anyone know where I can buy a can of Giterdone? Any suggestions?

I suffer from this ailment also. I think the best treatment is to attend a teardrop gathering. It is not a cure, but is a temporary boost of giterdone.

Same problem here. I only want to do it once and I want it to look great. Lots of thinking, then a flurry of progress. Back to thinking now... Besides, I have run out of materials again. I am getting to the point where I really need to buy some of my aluminum skin and trim, but that is a specialty store, with some special order, and a whole lotta $$$.

Yep, you have to mull things over awhile, because you want to do it right the first time. I did the same thing. I spent two years on my build, but I believe if I built another one, I could do it in a LOT less time. My son brought home a stripped pop up frame a while back, so I may get to find out one of these days....

Welcome to the club! I have the same problem! I want to know exactly what how and when anything will end u before I start. Absolutely impossible! I drive myself up the wall.
So I started my workshop goodies. To bad much of that turned into an absolute ???????? due to over analysis and tool problems I tried to figure out by thinking rather than just opening and using my damn eyes.
So I bought my ply to force myself to start working. Hopefully that will help me get going. I still need to figure out my doors' construction, then I'll get going. Damn! There I go again! Nowhere!

Years ago I considered building a kit plane. I bought a second hand kit plane one because I wanted to fly not spend 2 years building it.

Most mornings I can squeeze in an hour or so in the workshop on the td. It is amazing the amount of times I've had to stop at a critical point (about to cut something) and had time at the office to mull over the next step and decided to changed it. My formula is lots of little steps rather than a solid weekends work The most important part it to keep moving no matter the size of the step. Break down the project into little elements rather than a whole project. There are lots of suggestions on kitplane websites.

Unlike building a plane the tolerances are not so tight. We're also not making Swiss watches so mistakes often add character and give you a story to tell. The problem with perfection is you may need to consider sleeping in a tent for years while your build finishes or buying a new one off the shelf.

Silly mistakes drive me mad and I still make them. My latest video shows another one. Grrrrr.

I think one of my problems is I have been overdoing it. For example when I tent camp, I have one small flashlight and maybe we put a candle or two on the table when we cook, but on the tear I think I might be overdoing the lights, looks like if I light them all at once it's gonna look like that spaceship on close encounters. I think if I did this again I would go minimal.

Life and living keeps getting in my way. Just when you think you got it figured out something else rears its head. I built in foam and if you make a mistake cutting, Glue and knowing the Canvas will help hold it helps. I keep getting ahead of myself. now that the summer is winding down I will be able to spend more time Looking, studying and preparing the the approach to the multi-delimas(mw) that the building approach presents. Oh yea, if you are having trouble of any kind remember your building process is fodder for the forum. Just grab the camera and take some pictures, share, and the answer will come!!! You need a deadline. Sign up to go to a gathering, go with it half done, no real interior just the outside shell. That will solve two problems. One, you will see other teardrops and go home with new enthusiasm and two you will be motivated to finish it (mostly). It worked for me it can work for you too.

Great plan! When is the next gathering in Gauteng, South Africa?
Only joking! With no real body of Tear Droppers near to keep me motivated, I opened my yap at work often and loudly enough about what I plan, I now have to give dayly progress reports to them or else get ribbed mercilessly.
An upside to this is that it might just cause more conversions to the cause .

Same problem here - I keep looking at my plans and changing things here and there. My excuse is, I don't have the money to start till after my vacation in September!

I do feel like the design time will pay off. I have caught a number of issues that would have bugged me on down the line. I am going to the Treasure Island teardrop gathering and imagine that will light a fire!

Nice to know there are others out there struggling with the same thing.
