Grant & Brian,

The tentative schedules that I've been sent include ...
SR20 from I-15 to the summit (mp 10) on June 24, 25, & 26
SR12 ? location (my guess is somewhere between mp 87 {Boulder} & 110 {Wayne County Line}) on July 8 & 9
We are subject to weather, suppliers, and the usual breakdowns, delays, and on-the-spot changes that go with any construction/maintenance work, so these can change significantly from minute to minute. I also know that there is a whole lot of end-of-the-fiscal-year work going on everywhere so I doubt that you will be able to avoid it completely.

To everyone,

It is unfortunate that Utah has two seasons (winter & road construction), however, it really can't be avoided. The weather window that we have to get our pavement preservation work done is quite narrow in many places across the state. We do our best to minimize the inconvenience and make delays as short as possible. Don't change your travel plans and please be patient with us. This website has a map with the work/incidents that have been reported to the TOC (Traffic Operations Center) and quite a bit of other travel information. It has the most up to date information and is where I go when someone asks me if I have any information about a project, work being done, accidents, weather/road conditions (Nov thru Mar), etc. Clicking on the icons will give you information on what is occurring at that location, and the tabs at the top change what icons are available. The colored highways in the metro areas show traffic flow. Unfortunately, it is not all inclusive (we're working on it), so you may find some work/issues in other locations as well.

For anyone interested, we just got home last night from what we are now calling the first in a series of once-in-a-lifetime trips! In six weeks and one day we went from Redding, California, to Long Island, NY, Washington, DC, and back, covering 9,555 miles (9,000 pulling the trailer), visited at least 15 National Parks, lots of National Monuments, several State Parks, and two great Gatherings (CRA and Walk the Winds) ... I shot well over 2,000 pictures, Kay at least 3,000 ... we visited with so many people and made so many new friends ... and we can't wait to do it again! Neither one of us wanted to come home, we just wanted the adventure to keep on going and going and going and going! It was a fabulous pleasure meeting so many of you at the Gatherings, and an honor staying with the handful of you that hosted us for a night or more! Thanks to all who made this such a memorable trip! Sometime in the near future, we'll post links to photo albums yet to be created, but for now we're just (sort of) glad to say we're home, safe & sound!

As one of our newest best friends likes to say ... "til later by the fire!"

Welcome home Grant & Kay!
Glad to hear you are home safe and sound.
We were sorry we did not meet up with you somewhere along the way.
Our trip was also unforgettable and the first chapter to the next part of our life.
We will keep our eyes open for your pictures when you have a chance to organize them and set up some kind of link(big job...don't rush)
Our summer plans changed slightly and we did not get over to "walk in the winds" but there is still some camping season left, so we might see
you guys somewhere else down the road this year.

Grant,

Adventures are what life is about for those who get out of the rut so many are trapped in.

It is cruel irony that most of us who want to do these things cannot until we are too old to be able to get about the way we could when we were but dreamers...

Life is exciting when you live it, congratulations on taking a big chance, and having a fantastic outcome!

Glad to read you had such a great experience! Though that smile on your face in your picture pretty much says it all. BTW I'm hoping to someday become neighbors. Have started driving through the State of Jefferson on a semi-regular basis and am head-over-heels in love with the area north of Mt. Shasta. Would love to have a little retreat there to flee to when life in the city becomes too stressful.

Congratulations on doing a really great trip. Sheryl and I traveled over 6,000 miles last Sept. in picking up the Scotty in Philly, camping and seeing National Parks and historical monuments on the way back. Our friends thought we were crazy for going that far to pick up a trailer, but we loved the trip. There is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday-Someday is not there. Cheers for doing the trip and creating lifetime memories. Looking forward to the pictures.
