The crazyness begins!!

Well, I milled the strips for the roof on Saturday..The craziness begins. I started the stripping process today after work. I hope that it works out as I planned. I've never stripped over a surface before. Boats are done over a form with lots of methods to clamp the work. I see that I will have to improvise "clamps' as I go. Hope I'm not sorry I'll keep y'all posted as the mayhem continues!

Wow, that's a pile of strips! When you say you milled them, you mean ripped on the table saw, right? What kind of wood is that?

I would probably try to glue the strips on in the garage. I would make sure I had some long 1x2 pieces that would reach the ceiling joists of the garage. They could be your clamps. You could just wedge them in every so often!

Hi Mike!
Milled==Ripped from 1by10 flat-sawn cedar boards, 10' long.
I ran them through a beading, then coving bit on the router table. This produces a nice joint that is easy to glue up.
Dunno how many strips I did. I calculated 4, 1by10's and 1, 1by 8. I'll keep track of how many I use as I go. I like knowing these things!

Well, I have the hatch covered in strips!! YAHOO!! =D> 77 , to be exact!
I'm about 1/8 done with the remainder of the roof. I'm burning it up at about 8" per hour!! \:D/ I'll probably get the rest done over the weekend, I hope. Then smoothing and 'glass.
I picked up the appliances for the galley, now I'll putter with the layout. All that's left after that is wiring fixtures and running lights. I hope to get out in it in June! I'll update pics over the weekend.

I don't know how you do it. I have a day job too, but I guess my job takes a lot out of me. I couldn't work on the teardrop weekday evenings.

What are you going to be pulling yours with anyways? A woodie?

Mike, My "real" job is nuts! I get to de-bug messed up building automation programs for lots of cry-babies. Under the gun lots of the time..A target on my back, always!! I start at 5:30AM so that I can get home on the early side.When I get home, I head to the garage for a couple of hours before dinner. The family gives me the space, and they know that I feel better afterwards.
As for the tow vehicle, A Dodge Durango. I might really need it when this teardrop weighs in!
