gasbuddy.com ???

Postby Martiangod » Mon Dec 02, 2013 12:32 am

has anyone used gasbuddy.com to estimate their fuel cost for a trip, and if so, how close did it turn out to be?
I'm heading out on tuesday for 7000 klm pull,
gas buddy is guestimating arout $1200....hmmmm, thats alot of beer
Camping in the snow, average temp as of late in the - 20's but I expect to get down in the -30's more than a few times....should be fun :snowstorm:

I just keep the receipts from each trip with the mileage for that tank written on the back. I enter the data into an Excel spreadsheet that calculates a rolling average in both $/mi and mi/gal. I use those figures for trip budget planning.

More troublesome for me is meal planning for trips where I can't carry all my supplies i.e., longer than a week.

As for gas pricing... I find if you are willing to drops off freeway (interstate/intrastate) and go 4-6 blocks away from freeway gas pricing can be 10-20 cents a gallon cheaper than stations next to freeway offramps...
