I hope this works,,, The trailer at the top next to a lake with a young man fishing from the side.

Karen, I keep seeing the same ole problems the canvas dry rotting and the screen getting holes, Back to $100.00 tents.
The Idea is great for some, but I think I will stick with the teardrop. I like a hard top.

I agree, I will too. I was looking at being able to fish right from inside my camper. I just want to be the little person sitting there.

Advertising vs reality  I have yet to see a campsite that would allow me to fish from the camper. Part of that is protecting water from stupid campers.

One of the reasons for the tear is protection from neighbors noise, which you do not get from a soft side. Tent nylon is degraded by UV and the effects can be lessened by a anti US spray/coating.

When my kids were little and we had a nylon tent, one of my precious little boys decided to take a stick that had been in the campfire (the Poker stick ) and poke at his brother in the tent. I love little boys, I love my sons. Horrible things happen, we laughed about it some 25-20 years later. I know he spent his money on a yardsale "repair " tent and had to sit and watch me sew patches (3) on the family tent. So there are other ways that tents get ruined. like I said, I love little boys. did you know that grape koolaid on a orange tent leaves a sticky black stain? Did you know that zippers pulled up onto pajamas take several minutes (seemed like hours ) to get un caught and destroys the zipper? Did you know that lizards in the tent are not funny? Frogs at two am are Mothers best friend, she learns a whole new way to wake up the other campers. I say again: I love my sons. And I love my dogs, We set the tent up at home to dry and air out and I swept it out and ran in the house to do a few things and the dog played, pooped and chewed. and played pulltoy with the tent. ruined in less than an hour. I paid my dues thats why I built a teardrop. Enough of the tents already!!!!

Great story, All of our old tents died a natural UV death except for the last one a Kelty 4 person that our daughter and son-in law are now using. That one I coated with a UV spray and it is now about 20 years old but not used much.

Just done roll out of bed too quickly. Looks like an interesting idea. Couple concerns...

1) getting in and out -- not much of a walkway there.
2) safety rails are probably a requirement. Even if not legally required.
3) looks nose heavy. The weight probably needs to be farther towards the stern.
4). Needs a cover. I can see some serious sunburn here!

Long time ago when I was just a wolf pup my dad put earnest money down on a ranch just south of Sun Valley/Ketchem area of Idaho. The ranch had the head waters of Silver Creek. On of the premier fly fishing streams around. The house was built right on the bank and the guy would literally poke his fishing rod out the bedroom window and catch breakfast.

Sounds like a nice spot Randy. here in Minnesota on the shore of Lake Superior is a house where the wall of the house is on the stream bank. Built many years ago out of local stone, very pretty spot. Don't think they catch much fish in the little river but maybe.

I once stayed in a nice BLM campground about 13 miles north of Chalis Idaho. Some of the sites was very close to the Salmon River. While you could not fish from your teardrop. It was as very short walk to the river. From any site. And there was plenty of shady trees. May-early june would not be to nice as the trees are cotton woods. Nasty things when they are doing the reproduction thing.

And once I camped on at the north rim of the Grand Canyon NP but down river from the place you just thought of. 60 miles of gravel road to get to it and no entrance or camping fees. I got one of the 2 camp sites that was right on the edge. From my tent I could throw a rock over the rim and then it was 3000 feet straight down to the river. Couple years later the National Geographic printed a book called "One Hundred Place to see before you die" The cover photo was taken about 50 feet from where my tent was. I have only been back once since. Those two spots no longer allow camping. Oh, there are no guard rails here either. And you need 4x4 and some ground clearance for the last 4-5 miles.
